A Conductress Ducks for short in Newcastle and if they had to change over or the catynery came off the line, they were out the back lightening quick with their pole and away you went again.

What about the Wartime Memories Project?

I used to get a lot of work done by Swift Brake and Clutch on the end of Scotswood Road in Newcastle, Phone no.0191-2734273. I also used to use Advanced Motor Supplies, on Gateshead Salt Meadows Road.

Have I missed the thread? I have not seen a show report or any pictures. I could not get to show.

Idealy a serial no or squadron information. Otherwise an eagle eyed officionardo.

As things progresses there were also aircraft staging through Africa from America hopping from the Azors and Accention Island. Some heading for Iran and onward to their destination in Russia. I had a friend now sadly deceased who spent the whole war in East Africa and Iraq. He was an air frame rigger fitter.

I think one route was Freetown another from Gambia Aug/Sept 1940. HMS Argus transported 30 Hurricanes with their wings detached from Liverpool to Takoradi in West Africa. Hurricane range approx 460 miles extending to 1090 with two 44 gallon ferry tanks. In the same convoy was HMS Furious, loaded with 55 aircraft some crated Hurricanes of 73 squadron she did another trip with 40 in December 1940. Their destination was the Western Desert to fly combat missions until they re equipped with Spitfires in June 1941.

Everything is facinating and make up the big picture

Massive lectra haul dump trucks along with Terex and others, Oshkosh are all into electric power but they all have their own on board generating plants. Some very large mines have an overhead power supply that the trapeze can hook up to. We may well live to see buried electric rail in the road on limited routes. I can remember when Newcastle Corperation did away with the Trolly buses and introduced the latest thing in City Transport (Leyland Atlantians) with a big fanfare. Ports like Singapore are well along the route of autonimous driverless vehicles for moving containers. A rope operated electric front shovel is still the most efficient machine for loading dump trucks size for size compaired to a diesel hydraulic excavator in the large slow moving face senareo.

Great restoration on the trailer. With the help of an little mischevious imp.

I am amazed by the tidy and clean condition of your workshop. Truck is looking good.

Steam engines defy phased obsolescents and refuse to fade away, despite the contrivance of politicians. Petrol and diesel powered vehicles will be with us for a long while and have taken there place in history, and will sustain the future. Therefore it follows that as long as men and women draws breath they will survive. It also means they will continue to infuriate us;)

They built Tornado a few years ago and are building another the Prince of Wales. There is talk of a new build Nigel Gresley.

Sorry. I had the pleasure to drive a Gardiner engined 8x4 Constructor with a David Brown range/splitter box in the 1990s. My mind did not go back past that.

A Militant is Air only brakes, If I remember correctly. A Constructor is an Air plus Spring parking set up. Foot valve on the Militant is very basic, the Constructor is next generation control with pressure proportioning and load sensing. I could not wait to see the back of palm couplings. I should have asked what is the valve for. If it is a trailer supply it is either getting a signal to feed air or it does have a fault and is just leaking. If it is the end of the line and you are not going to run a trailer, there should be no problems blanking it off that will let the system fill properly and the relief valve will cut in at max pressure. Then at least you will have brakes on the truck, and can work on a fix for the valve at your leasure.

I would only check other vehicle to see If valve has an standing air supply. If not your problem is with another valve on this vehicle do a pipeline chase to see where it is getting air from. It is many years since I chased air problems when I took parts off other vehicles I often then had a problem with that one as well usually a pipe fitting that did not want to reconnect.

I thought it was me doing something wrong. I have been having problems with the site for a few weeks.
-
I would check to make sure no air is getting through the foot treadle valve at rest with full air pressure.

As with any big dog training is crucial. They are super intelligent very loyal and marvelous family members and companions. I have had experiance of Alsations for 40+ years and was never bitten, but had to deal with hillarious events when two particular dogs took an intense dislike to visitors. On another occasion a driver set off with a van not knowing Donavan was having a siesta in the back after about 20 miles he got up and licked Joes ear and the description of the incident had everyone in hysterics for weeks as Joe kept telling everyone he met embelishing a little bit each time he told the story. They are more vocal than a collie, Hip displacia is a problem a vet can advise you. They give back a lot. If they do not like someone they probably will not change their mind.
