I have used many times in Service myself as an Armourer. & still do sometimes on the Bench. i have never seen that little 'shield' on any issue blowlamps? These lamps are very simple to use. Fill with PARAFIN & unscrew the small valve on the filler cap. Pour METHELATED SPIRITS into the circular 'Dip' on the top of the lamp. Light the meths & wait. You will soon hear it hiss & bubble as the Parafin is drawn up the tube. When this happens after a few seconds of waiting with the hissing Etc. CLOSE the screwed valve. & apply a FEW pumps to the pump handle. You will hear it begin splutter & a blue flame will try to exit the muzzle. Keep it like this for appox 20 seconds & then PUMP AWAY FREELY as you like! The flame will become hotter, louder & roar! You are ready to use it! When finished, unscrew the valve to exhaust the pressure in the tank. let it cool completely. close the valve & stow away safely!
Many Thanks, I got a flame coming out like a flame thrower may have to clean the nozzle.

Following a visit to Acworth Scammel l Rally and seeing the Ferret with a Number 2 Stove strapped to the rear I though t I would start this thread.
The hope is that we can build up a library of field cooking and pictures of cooking stoves being stored on vehicles and in use.
Hopefully we can get recipes used as well, maybe even just old menus from ration packs.
Its a wide and open ended subject and hopefully will have a lot of contributions, even recollections.
This is also for history of the cooking vessels etc.

Please remember if using Linseed Oil for restoration to take care as any cloths used in the restoration
will SELF IGNITE if left together in a pile.
Remove or place the cloths in a fire proof container after used.
I hadn't heard of that, will remember for future, i actually brushed it on, have to say not bad and I am not a joiner

Dylon olive green appears to be a match for information

About to sort these at last, hate it when work gets in the way.
Would they be treated with, polish, linseed oil or something else, personally thinking of linseed oil as they may be used in the open and rain
