Great info, apart from a bent bumper, what else would you check,
-
Good picture -
Clive
Thanks for this

I have just seen a Land Rover supposed to be ex MoD with a front winch on it, I have never seen one before on any picture.
Being curious what would you look for to ensure winch is in good condition, does the cable need to be tested from time to time?
What would you look for on the attachments to the bumper?

Be aware that this issue will only get worse in future as the bio-fuel content in fuel increases.
Interesting point

How unlucky can you get?
If you knew my luck I'm not surprised

RLC have just come back and the card for the vehicle is missing, they have one on either side, must draft email to Land Rover
-
RLC on line form does not recognise the chassis of Registration, email to be sent
British Motor Museum only can give date sent to MoD, they suggest Deep Cut Barracks.
Still to email Land Rover.
Work to pay bills getting in way
-
I look forward to seeing how it operated when you find out?
-
Many thanks, remember, now, reading on here the one for RLC, will carry on the hunt

Any way apart from flushing to deal with it and how to tell, I don't have a filter at the tank as far as I can see
Also how do you tell?
-
I have just read the Land Rover Monthly and they mention that if deisel are not run regularly that mushrooms can grow in the filters tank and lines.
Has anyone any experience of this?
Any suggestions on how to stop or treat it? Just filled the tank before engine siezed still trying to get it sorted

The GPMG is probably the finest machine gun ever made. Better than a Bren (And for me to say that it has to be good) and superior to the MG42 etc. If you gave a squady the option of any machine gun, that would be it.
Having trained with the 7.62 SLR, and used that frequently I can see where you are coming from

Thought it might have been only every used them twice, can remember once test firing as the armourer fed the belt, the firing point was slightly up hill and could work out why he was laughing, turns out the recoil was slowly pushing me down the hill.
He was telling me how long to give the burst of fire, I am sure in hind site he made me fire about half the belt in one go just to see me slide

It would appear on the above link to the Seller, that they have the most varied stock of items for sale. I hope it isn't an innocent persons account that has been somehow hacked, as the feedback trail has been inactive for 6 months?
Interesting all starting bids 99p

I'm sure anyone who served anywhere during the Cold War will have numerous memories of the time but it's picking out what is of interest to the wider public. I suppose even what I think of as mundane could be an eye-opener to others, so I will put my thinking cap on.
Actually, my first memory of any action was soon after joining 11H LAD in Jan 68, when the unit was called out on a "quick train". Three of us had arrived together and not yet been allocated to vehicles and two of us ended up riding on the back decks of the HQ Sqn Cent ARV. Being early Jan it was bitter cold, so the heat from the decks made it quite bearable, especially as we were only out for a few hours. Just a pity the decks weren't a bit softer!
Even if you think mundane and start writing them down as may jog memory, sometimes does with me

Sadly I never had a camera at that time so have no pictures at all. It didn't seem to be worth having one then, but what memories they would evoke if I had had more sense.

At least write them down so not lost.

I don't know if the part numbers of the spanners are quoted in your manual but the EMER describes J2/5120-99-125-1778 to disconnect the burner from the feed tube & J2/5120-99-125-1777 to remove the controls from the feed tube.
Clive
Do you have the EMER number please?
Thanks

I don't own a No 2 Stove but looking at the spanner in the third photo you may just need one spanner:-
If it is the correct spanner for the No2 and the No2 Modified, with an original as a pattern, you could have one laser cut.
Thanks, I will be downloading this page to help me

Now that Clive has confirmed that there are 2 spanners, I've found this image of them.

And I was just uploading my poor quality picture.
Thanks for this
