Registration plates for new registrations and new plates fitted after 1st Sept 2001 requires Retro-reflective Yellow and white plates, and these must comply with and be marked with the BS Au1545d mark.
Vehicles registered between 1. 1. 73 and 1st Sept 2001 must also be retro-reflective but bear the mark BS Au 145a.
I cannot see how this can be achieved by using magnetic material to make up a plate.
Ok, sounds interesting. I'm going to put this to DVLA & let them answer the question - this could be a can open a can of worms :cool2:

FV436 was registered on Friday at Maidstone DVLA office, this took less than 10 minutes, was very simple & now can't wait to venture out on the open road with 'L plates'.
-
I have had some magnetic plates made, that I just put over the military number. They are on flexible magnetic material, and work very well.
Well that's fab, didn't even think about it.. been doing tests for a client on the same stuff. Think I'll need to make some of my own :cool2:

I was looking for a 439, but could not find a complete version. The 432 upgraded to 436 came available & as it was local, seemed a very good purchase.
FV436 was delivered by Steve last week & duly placed in the safe haven of the extended driveway. As soon as Saturday arrived it was the start of discovery, the speedo registered 300 odd miles & the pack showed all the signs of none use. A quick clean & in the shed for attending to minor tree opps.

As the FV432 is now registered, I would like to get some in keeping plates, any idea's :-D
-
All FV432s have a "Heater" switch on the Distribution Panel (the one with the battery master switch) so I'd assume it should be fed from there? I think there's a connector on the rear of the ventilation fan controller.
Andy
Thanks Andy, I'll have a look.

Hiya, and welcome aboard from another "local" man
Hey ho, someone local to help me :-D
-
I've been told it usually connects directly to the battery, so all I need now is the fuse rating.
-
You'll need to check the size but this looks like the one.
Thanks Adrian, is an exact match, even the mounting holes are the correct distance apart.

So Metroman, what did you hit? Looks like a tree or some other type of wooden object that must have "jumped out" into your path! Come on fess up mate, no one here is perfect, we have all made mistakes. . .
R
Ooopps Haha, well done, was a tree that hangs over in the lane, didn't have that trouble with the 434 - no side bins :-D

Was told the crane was for lifting heavy items like batteries etc into the vehicle good old elf and safety:-|
Says max lift is 250kg - bit of an after thought by the boys in green, as you can't open the side bin below it :nut:
-
Mine has a sticker on it saying fan will run for 4 or 5 mins. before turning off! I'll double check this.
-
Metroman,
would you be able to take some detail photos and scribble something dimensioned in the way of a drawing fo that roof basket, we have a 436 with the lug mounts but no basket and I want to make a faithfull copy.
Thanks
R
Hi Robin, yes thats not a problem - detailed discription to follow
-
Thanks everyone :-D
David, been to Chatham meet many times, a couple in the Green Goddess  I'm away on the 13th but will bring the 432 down sometime.
