  1. As for the pole - better the devil you know and I didn't see anyone complaining at this years Bunker Bash when a pole was in use however I must point out the technique was all wrong - you're supposed to go down the pole - not up it.

    Thought CW's technique was quite good at the HMVF bbq, w&p this year. :cool2:

  2. No Mark - men only.:coffee:

    :sweat:Umm,.............I do hope, NOT; Jack.....:stop:

    I know you've lost your flowing locks, (:???), and it took a Lass to do the deed,..but come on..........I mean, who's gonna pick up the crisp packets, and Enigma's empty coke bottles;

  3. There were 2 programmes on BBC2 tonight, the first at 7pm was on Henry Allingham, the second at 7.30pm was on Harry Patch, both very emotional I felt. Both programmes were shown as changes to the published schedule.

    Saw them both; Very moving, as you say; Degsey.

    Thought the poem Andrew Motion did for Harry patch was spot on.

  4. Hi Bob,

    Lets see,.........Dodge WC, british service far east, :) hows about a pic, of such, namely 10th Glosters, 36th Inf Div, Burma, jan '45........yes,in a Dodge WC.

    the pic is credited to the imperial war museum and is to be found in osprey men at arms series 187, british battle dress insignia 2 1939 - 45 page 35,by mike chappell. isbn 0-85045-739-4

    Sorry, have no means of scanning pic, so I hope info above helps you track it down.

    All the best, and welcome to the Friendly Forum.

  5. Must admit to liking those wagons, as well. :-D

    Has anyone got any pics of my Bedford MW, 582 cyr (carrying 11 armoured div markings, (charging black bull), esp when around site in mud, etc...........??

  6. As both a vehicle owner, and an (appropriate)uniform wearer, I do have my own PLI, - NOT for when with vehicle, thats covered in its insurance, but for when I display kit off said vehicle,..........if little jonny ducks under my (faKe) barbed wire, and falls over sandbags, etc, I'd not be covered with vehicle insurance, so to cover myself, I've got PLI.

    There do seem quite a few folk with various pieces of kit, that are on display, who are 'winging' it re PLI; and I feel its only a matter of time before someone, (member of public) gets hurt, and then the sh*t will hit the fan.

    My PLI is through a group membership, and company is Shooters Rights, which covers me with both deac and blank firing firearms.

    On the question posed by Clive,.......I'd say I'm not a re-enactor, ......BUT thenagain, I guess I COULD be termed one in the loosest sense, when with vehicle. :confused: :sweat: I Think..........

    Gonna go lie down now..........

  7. They're good trucks, spares availability is good, motor is the legendary flat head V8, beloved of the custom/hot rod guys/gals.

    On the newer diesels, I've heard that air filter elements could be a problem, once stocks are exhausted, as it is/was a 'special',.......although I guess the guys at RR can give you chapter and verse re this.

    For a small-ish truely MILITARY vehicle, that is comfy, etc IMO you could do worse;

    All the best,

  8. Twas a good little show, esp as the rain we travelled through from beltring, and which was pelting down upon arrival stopped, and the sun came out...........

    Flying display's were good, esp when the wind caught one of them whilst he was doing something interesting, :)............(probably caused the pilot do do something 'orribilly interesting :cool2::sweat:in the cabin as well)

    Good mix of military types, as well as stationary engines, cars and m/cycles.

    A Grand day out..............not mentioning CW fondling his BALLS :shocked: in the maize..........

    All the best, mate.

  10. :shocked: Bl**dy Hell,........how much......:shake::shake::shake::sweat:
