  1. How often do the above come up for sale? are there many left?, are RR B81 powerpacks easy to source? what's spares availability like? Lots of questions :-) im new :-) Cheers Sam.
  2. you can double it from low to hi :-) you don't need to stop... it requires practice, unless you have FWH's witch to be honest are a bit silly. ;-p
  3. from my experience, most problems with the lovely HIF SU's is down to wonky Lucas ignition components.. Land rover fitted both HIF SU's and Strombergs to Rover V8's, the SU "clicky clicky" pumps were replaced with the facet type unit. I would suspect ignition.. is it an 8v system? if so 1. make shore the ballast resister is ok and 2. you have the right Coil!! the other big one is the leads have a look at them see if they say "suppression" on them if they do change them for non suppression leads.. suppression leads are for EFI lumps [CUX14] etc yet seem to get sold as a "one size fits all". have you checked the timing? unlikely to have moved over night but then things like the centrifugal weights operation and the dwel could all be checked in one hit.. if it makes you feel better ive been there... very frustrating! Sam
  4. :-D Hello all,Sam hear, ive been reading many posts hear for a wail, i will be honest I was not much of an MV enthusiast when I bought a SIIA FV18067 in 2010 with the aim of doing some overland travel, however.. with the location I was planning to go has become some what in practical.. I have now re-purposed the truck as a camper, im guessing you all going to frown on me :embarrassed: but its nearly done should be going for MOT soon. ive been reading posts on getting a V5 and plates for it and well... now I want to be part of the MV thing :-) I have a number of "toy's" and in the family we have a variety of classics the biggest being a Thames Trader but no MV's save the afore mentioned.. I will posted in the main form, but im considering getting at least my C or maybe C+E [only about £300 more] and making my next project a Ex MOD cold war warrior! I would really like a Leyland Martian Wrecker... purely as a toy though we do some woodland management so shore I could find some work for it, only last week a tractor ended up in a pond and getting it out with a teleporter was laborious... Are they still about? is it possible to find one with a B81 still in it? [i love the B series despite there drinking problem].. am I being unrealistic? Cheers All! Sam.
