  1. If you are building or restoring a Kubel or schwimmer this site has many good reproduction parts http://www.leharmilitaryvehicles.cz/ No doubt most of the kubel / schwimmer retorers have been there before. Enjoy Ron Duncan
  2. Nick It's a pleasure, only too happy to assist. This may take a day or so to complete as I am packing the house up here in Doha to return to the UK. Cheers Ron
  3. As I have the manual for the 198 I can make a copy for you, however it will be in PDF format which will be required to be sent via an email. Colour schemes I can help with also - just pick a year you intend to use for the vehicle and I'll give you the colours. I may have made a small error: The 198 was not the pump but the vehicle which started other vehicles. I do not have a manual for the kubel with the water pump. However I can assist with most other items you require. Cheers Ron
  4. Cheers Montie, I'll see what I can do this weekend to start my thread.
  5. Just to add a little note about the tracked kubels as shown above they were all prototypes and never went into production. They still have the Porsche designated numbers never the less.
  6. [/img] This the manual for the typ 198. Not many went into production and I have never seen a war time picture yet of one in action. They were mainly used for starting tanks and lorries in very cold temperatures ie below -30 C [/img] [/img] If you need more info on the marque please feel free to ask. May I ask what model you are assembling and what year it is supposed to be representative of? When you get to the painting stage definitely give me a shout. Cheers Ron Duncan
  7. bonjour à vous aussi Rover8FFR. Forgive my tardiness in the reply but I have been extremely busy at work these past few weeks or so. Glad to be onboard
  8. If I am going to be 100% authentic with my wiring I will have to do the wiring myself. The individual cores were lacquered crepe paper and then covered by braided cloth. Do you know if they can supply just the outer braiding sheath in a dark colour?
  9. Pzkpfw-e Thanks for the method of posting. I understand fully now. Cheers Ron
  10. Glad to be onboard and many thanks for the welcome. Once I figure out how to post the pictures I'll do so with pleasure. Great site by the way and some fantastic topics. Cheers Ron
  11. This website is probably the best going at the moment for both the Type 82 and the Type 166. There is a subforum for other WWII vehicles: http://vw166.com/ Forgot to mention that the site about does not work now as the guy has moved on to other things. Enjoy Ron
  12. There was also the type 198 Anwerfgetriebe, which was used to start heavy vehicles and Tanks. This madified type 82 had an external gearbox (getriebe) coupled to the engine with a tubular connection which fitted to the engine of a tank to crank it over. Have not managed to find out how to post pictures but when I do I'll post what I have on it. Cheers Ron
  13. I have been looking for the names of companies who supply this type of cable for ages. Does anyone know of any mainland european companies say located in Germany, France Holland, Belgium? Thanks for the links. Cheers Ron
  14. TonyB Thanks for the warm welcome and only too glad to swell the ranks of the Axis Vehicle Members. If we are thin on the ground it really means I'll have to do a lot of posting on the subject. This may be of interest to those who are modelling and wish to gain an insight into what the various Kübelwagen's should look like through the years they were manufactured. Cheers Ron
  15. Hi Forum and greetings from Doha, Qatar. Been living and working in the Construction Industry here in Doha for the past 5.5 years and still enjoying it - pretty much. I am an owner and researcher of the VW Type 82 Kübelwagen which was built in January 1945. Restoration is a slow process as I am here in Qatar and the vehicle is in France. However I do enjoy the jaunts back to Europe to do a bit of work on it and go to the rally's and swap meets to purchase the remaining missing items that are still required. There's a large amount of stuff here in the forum so If you do not mind I'll start browsing and see what there is available for my particular vehicle. Cheers Ron
