  1. Thanks Chris, so apart from the stamping how different is my example from an L9? Cheers shaun
  2. Hi everyone, for Christmas I was given a deactivated Hi Power, which as im sure you can appreciate im over the moon with. I believe its a Mk2 with steel action serial number 75c36129, and has two stamps that I cant make out, but look like a bomb or an oval with a crown on one end and something inside it. Im using it to stand in for an L9 which I just could not afford at the moment, but just out of interest I wondered if anyone was able to tell me anything about it's actual past or what the two stamps mean? Cheers Shaun
  3. A couple of years ago I was in a mates SAS range rover on our way to a landy show up north, we were over taken by a couple of lorries which sucked the car trailer behind us out of shape and flicked us over with a 2a gunship with a 106 recoilless rifle on the trailer blocking the M1 in rush hour. I think I have a photo of that somewhere
  4. Ok, thanks for the conformation, I will take it into work and get the end ground down in the morning as I have nothing that will do it at home. many thanks again
  5. Sorry Chris mine is an L4a3, I was suffering from fat fingers you, you should have the numbers from an earlier thread. This is is what I have in the small parts tin, no SLR parts yet. But can anyone tell me what's what? many thanks shaun
  6. Those photos are very handy thanks, I will have to take a photo of the contents of my small parts tin as I'm not completely sure what all the bits are:blush: But I have some bits not in the photos and to be honest I don't know if they even belong to a bren let alone my L4A2 many thanks shaun

  8. Ok thanks for that, I have the small parts in the tin do you happen to know the full length of the firing pin so I can make sure mine is on the right side of the law. My wallet is one of the 50's made ones so I wonder why it's missing the cleaning rod holder, other than that is it all looking complete, I think I need another oil bottle and the barrel bag is for a MK3 bren but apart from that? many thanks shaun
  9. Can anyone tell me if there is any other bits I need to find or bits I need to lose to get my Bren kit accurate? Cheers ShaunShaun
  10. My Bren started out as T4177 made by Daimler
  11. Thanks Chris the serial number on mine is UE 65A4492, can I ask how you knew? I will admit to knowing very little about the Bren in any form so can't comment to much on this one, I do however think it still has the Mk 2 butt fitted. But I will post up some close up's later when I get a chance. I think (but could be wrong) that this is ex Irish military. yes this was from a dealer but they have now sold out, a friend of mine got an A4 from them too
  12. I got this through today. Can anyone explain the modifications that went into converting the .303 to 7.62 also what is the difference between the different L4's? i would also love any L4 related story's many thanks shaun
  13. I was only there for the Saturday and had a fantastic time, I have even been court in one of the photos earlier in the thread whilst helping man the Military Lightweight Club stand.
  14. I have a pair of these the NSN dates to 92 so after the gulf if that helps
  15. The cable/string looks to be the same type as used for the guidelines for the 5.4M mast with a spring clip on the end and lots of it, I will try and post as photo later Cheers Shaun
