  1. There are a lot of ww2 tanks just lying around near me (Salisbury Plain). I had a friend once who tried to get a sherman but the MOD wouldn't him. I did have one of those I know where some stuff is buried conversations and even got permission to dig from the council but I discovered the tip had in past dumped Asbestos where I wanted to dig.
  2. From what I recall I paid £200 for it and he helped to load it on the trailor
  3. I guess it's a bit difficult to see... so here's another I dug up off a farm in Devon. The farmer used use a jeep to get from his front door to the road. It's strange but they have a habit of burying vehicles in that part of the country. Anyone ever walk the coast road from Bucks Mills to Clovelly you come across a load of rusting chassis and engine blocks from pre-war Austins and Morris's just sitting there just off the path they just pushed them off the cliff anyway I digress As you can tell it's GPW, I managed to salvage quite alot from this to help with my own GPW project
  4. The picture shows the rear of the body the rest of the body is buried you can just see the grab handle on the right hand side of the picture. I got hold of the owner of the land it was on and was given permission to excavate I started digging and there wasn't a lot left. A local also infromed me that the land that the jeep was on was used as a practice bombing site.
  5. Well as I said on my last post I'm always looking over walls so I thought I might post some of these discoveries here's the first it's a jeep buried in a stream as far as I know it's still there but it has been robbed out it's in the UK anyone else seen anything interesting
  6. I just thought i would share with you this jeep I found whilst on Holiday last week. I always seem to be looking into yards and corners does anyone else suffer form this. I post some of my other discoveries and things I've dug up at some stage This is a Ford Although i couldn't get really close and the top didn't help. Notice that the bumperettes are upside down, I beleive the Greek army did this to their jeeps, but could be wrong.
  7. I read these answers with great interest over the years I have had my jeep MOT'd at many garages. One time at a Garage that specialised in trucks at the time I had an oil seal gone on the transfer case, coating the handbrake band, the testers solution was to put the handbrake on and drive around until the oil caught fire put out the fire then test the hand brake. But again it's not a handbrake it's a parking brake! Also I once had some advice concerning hand windscreen wipers if there's aproblem take the windscreen off. An old MV hand once told me the oil leaks are there to show you've got some oil in there.
  8. Hi Guys No I'm not a colonel I draw for a living mostly on computers now days, I have got involved in Military Emblazoning onto Regimental drums for armies in this country and abroad. I've attached a sample for the Irish Guards sorry it's bit blurry as the full sized file would be huge.
  9. Thanks for the welcome guys.... seems you all operated at my level (ground level) - cheers Mike
  10. Hi All had a look at this site for a while was an MVT member but got fed up with the some of the shows, used to enjoy the Portsmouth D day show back in the late 80's early 90's still playing with my 44 GPW. I'm from Wootton Bassett there are more jeeps here than anywhere I know of. Cheers Mike
