The rear o/s wheel cylinder is now apart and could do with new rubbers. I have also removed the front o/s hub and wheel cylinder, which is in really good condition! The 2 brake drums are now painted and under the wheel arches topcoated. I just need to order up some rubbers (any recommendations?) and reassemble.

Thanks gents!

Small world! Your brother made me some excellent mudflaps for the rear of my MW! And yes, verifaction certificate recieved - many thanks, I was going to email you, not realising you were in the clubhouse!:-D (cracking Landy by he way)

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the wonderful world of vintage Fire Engines! I have a 1937 Dennis myself. There are a few others on here with feet in green and red camps too!

Any recommendations on the correct grease for the rear wheel cylinder bisectors? The manual says use grease that is safe with rubber (or words to that effect).

Great website, some cracking piccies! Trouble is I now Really really want one!:drive:

Really enjoying these pictures thank you for sharing them with us. As a Fire and Military nut these are of real interest.

Measured the bonnet this morning the gap is 7/8 of an inch.
Yep, mine too.

I'll have al look at mine tomorrow too.

Nice new rear mud guards (flaps) now fitted. Rear N/S brake drum and wheel cylinder removed. The brake shoes look ok, wheel bearings look ok. The wheel cylinder is better than I expected. I will dismantle and clean up and have a better look. I guess the only way to know its useable is to re fit and try it when I have sorted the master cylinder.

Great pics and a nice project. It sound like you have been quite lucky in finding body parts.

she can always ring me .....stupid offers may be excepted
Trust me, it would be a stupid offer, just not the way you might hope!:embarrassed:

Those brackets are looking good John. As does the truck, I look forward to my next visit to see her up close.
I need to pull my finger out, Rampant Rivet is gonna catch up!

Thats funny, my missus asked me what I want for Christmas yesterday. Now I know!!!:-D
Nice find, good luck with it.

You need four actually! :wow: Mudflaps for either side of the rear wheels - with nice rolled safe edges:-)

I have not met or have any connection to the above, who is a forum member, but have just employed his metal fabrication expertise and wanted to put on record what an excellent job and service was provided. I would be happy to recommend to anyone out there needing something made for their project:-D

A warm welcome. Always room for another 15cwt in the clubhouse carpark:D. Eagerly awaiting the piccies.

Nice work mate. My mounts had crumbled to nothing, I replaced them with machine vibration mounts. Slow down a bit will you, otherwise your project will 'lap' mine!
-
Very nice, a credit to you.

Perhaps you can keep us MW'ers informed on how you get on?:-D

Thanks chaps, most interesting. Any pics or links to pics gratefully received!

I have been wondering for a while about ww2 RAF reg numbers:blush:. Was there any numerics sequence, ie the lower the number the older the vehicle or any scheme to them to identify vehicle type etc? Looking at a few period pictures and preserved vehicles they appear fairly random:nut:. I did think about finishing my MW as RAF, and having seen 44GPW's lovely example was inspired. But how would I find an appropriate reg number if I did, not saying I will, but I might, perhaps, maybe:nut:
Perhaps I need to get out of the clubhouse more!

Not sure its a Dennis, could be a Bedford, both carried that type of Miles bodywork
Definatley a Dennis F8/ Miles
The Ford Thames looked rather less loved than it used to!
The OY needs work but is do-able, I will sort a picture out.
I dont know what vehicles sold as yet.

Thank you Richard, will give them a call.
I have had my first go with a honing tool today and the master cylinder and front wheel cylinder have cleaned up a treat, so hopefully just new rubbers are needed. I didn't get much time this weekend, had to work sat morning:cry: then work on the car:(.
