  1. I had a similar problem with my Saracen; turns out that a vacuum line was not connected correctly and there was a massive air leak. It ran fine with the choke on (as it was compensating for the extra air) but not off or at idle. A spare bolt and a hose clamp in the end of the hose fixed it :D

  2. Hi,

i bought an M16 HT 4 years ago to restore (now fully restored) lets just say, I could have bought a fully restored one, for less money. Tracks are £3,500 if u can find them !! A lot of the original internal/external parts are getting very hard to find now. Both the dash clocks, are now hard to find in good original condition. The speedo alone now fetches £450-500 Bottom line depends on how original you want it to be !!!!

    regards

    stuart

Do you have any manuals for the gun equipment? We have one in our museum that needs a little TLC.

  3. I've come down with a pretty bad cold and therefore wasn't really up for crawling on top of the Saracen and taking some pictures over the weekend. If you haven't got them already, here are some extracts from the User Handbook. Also, forum member Oily has some photos on his Facebook account of when he did an engine swap, if you need more info, let me know and I'll get his permission to reproduce them here.

    Hi All,

Does anyone have a copy of either of these manuals, as listed on the VMARS site? They only allow members to access them, and while I'd be happy to pay for a membership, their antiquated payment methods and the fact that I'm in another country means that I'll have to wait about 2 weeks to post out cash, while ideally I'd like to get a basic intercom working this weekend.

    Cheers,

    Terry

  5. It's actually a bit of both - you mutually need to understand the risks involved. What risks does your vehicle present to the event, and what risks does the event present to you and your vehicle?

    Andy

Yep, and if you try and throw it all back at the council, they'll just deny your application, as it's all just work to them. Play the game, it's not all that hard and once you've done it right the first time, you can just resubmit the same paperwork over and over for future events.

    Cheers,

    Terry

  6. I don't know about over there, but here, the main thing that councils want with a risk assessment for vehicle events is to do with movement of the vehicles around the public.

For some shows, we've had to have a policy of you must arrive before and you cannot leave before times, during which the vehicles must not be moved, but more often we can get away with something similar with an exception being that vehicles can be moved, at walking pace, as long as an official walks in front of it while wearing a high-visibility vest.

Some may also want your club/organisation to have public liability insurance, which is usually provided on a blanket basis through memberships of the larger club organisations.

It may seem a little unreasonable somtimes, but at the end of the day, if you are running an event on council property, they have ultimate liability for that event.

    Cheers,

    Terry

  7. You Tease! :nut:

There's me thinking it was a date and not a numerical reference.

Would the Red primer and grey first coat apply to all shades of top coat Clive?

    Thanks

My guess is that it would be more like red primer, admiralty grey, DBG and then whatever the unit painted over the top, most likely 4 other coats of DBG, some sand, more DBG and a few coats of NATO green :P

    Cheers,

    Terry

  8. Issah2025, roughly how much is one of Lehar's bodies? I've never considered a kubelwagen, but I've got to admit that it's pretty cool and I could see myself using one as a daily driver... What is the quality like? Do you have any details of the build-up?

    Cheers,

    Terry

  9. A note of caution about buying gas regulators from another country: just about every continent uses its own bottle fittings. The kit linked by Marvin would be perfect for me, but does not fit an Australian specification bottle, which uses a T50 connector. The cheapest regulator I can find that handles 600 PSI and has a T50 is $400 on its own - a bit much for an infrequently used product :(

    Cheers,

    Terry
