  1. Our museum has the body shell of a Short Brother S600 series variant (AS-S607-00-002) on display in the yard, which was donated to us by BAE Systems Australia.

I asked Clive if he'd like some photos for his Shorland site, as he didn't have much on the S600. I figured that rather than trying to email them to him, I'd put them here and then let him use any of them that he wanted. In order to clear up any potential confusion, I am putting these pictures in the public domain and they can be freely used by anyone for any purpose. I would them credited to the National Military Vehicle Museum in Edinburgh Parks, South Australia, if you do use them but this is not a requirement and entirely optional.

This post will be very picture heavy.

  2. While we're at it, can you please update your indexer to allow 3 character search terms? It's bloody annoying having to use google for articles about things that use a three letter acronym on this site; something that the military tends to do a lot of.

    Cheers,

    Terry

  3. The things around the edges appear to be padding that is pleated with buttons, like an old couch, viewed from a high angle (I'd say that they are on the walls of a box like structure and we are looking down upon it). What it is and what it was used for I have no idea.

    Cheers,

    Terry

  4. Good to hear that you got it sorted. Where does the oil pressure gauge plumb in to the engine? My Saracen is only fitted with a warning light and that is staying illuminated at the moment (pretty sure that it's an electrical problem). Unfortunately, the manual that I have says to refer to the EMER Power for details about finding and removing the sensor, and I don't have that one :(

I'd like to fix the warning light (pretty sure that it's actually water damage/corrosion in the junction box) and also fit a mechanical gauge.

    Cheers,

    Terry

  5. Thanks guys,

I'm a bit confused about the bevel boxes: The original doc specifies OEP 220, which is an EP90 gear oil (and what I run in my Saracen), while Richard mentions an SAE140. Which should I be using?

Does anyone have copies of the manuals? The service schedule would be fantastic :)

    Cheers,

    Terry
