Good luck Chris good to see someone restoring a Martian . Did you go recovery or gun tractor ? Or maybe both ?:-)

What oil would be used Andy? Lack of a servicing schedule for the Mk 1 make dumb questions inevitable
The lubrication chart only states oil for most and grease on a few lubrication points I'm afraid Neil so I'm gonna guess a general purpose oil :nut:
-
Most nipples on Scammells of a similar age are for oil rather than grease mate so it may be the case with your lovely new toy :-)

:-D still nothing to add mate :-D

Hi, I was prompted to join the forum rather than just lurking in response to a request from a member for photographs of a Michigan 175. I used to drive Michigans on RCT Maritime work and I have several photographs of these as well as Scammell Explorers transporting Michigans on low loaders. Despite Michigans being around for a good few years, I was surprised that I could not find a single photograph of a military 175 on the web!
Regards - David
Welcome David , great photos . Thanks for sharing them :-D

Great thread . Thanks for giving her a good home :-D

I'm now seeing the overhead shape of a Humber Pig wheel arch and position of foam generating equipment in relation to it ! Must be an obsession :D
-
I'm now thinking possibly part of a Home Guard explosive detonator . Clutching at any clue here Clive :D:D:D
-
Hmmm . Am I spending a penny ? Thought it could possibly be a plan for tented lavatories in relation to rest of the camp ?
-
Is it a countersunk screw holding some mystery parts together Clive ?

PM'd you Neil

Last time I visited Montys caravans where covered with a plastic sheet as the roof leaks right above them and the special roof couldn't be repaired as the company is no longer trading ! Sorry state of affairs !

Started pulling the Near Side door apart this afternoon, bottom edge is well shot, and will need a good deal of repair work. Outer skin has encountered the tin worm too, and has had a patch riveted on at some point in it's life.

Had to cut the handle off too, but they are still readily available, so no great drama there. Glass is good but the runners have seen better days. I did get some new channel for my timber tractor years ago, but I cannot remember where I got it from. Anyone got any ideas.

Posted these two pictures mainly for the benefit of Neil (Artistsrifles) and others fixing Militant windows. First pic is the winder from my tanker.

This pic is a Morris Minor rear door winder, lifted from that well known auction site. Minor (excuse the pun) differences to the Militant, but adaptable to suit and only £20
This any good Rob ? https://www.vintagecarparts.co.uk/products/486-brass-h-channel-small-chair
