  1. I had a great show, just a shame I was so busy talking to people that I hardly got chance to see any of it. I'd also like to apologise to anyone that got held up behind the Cromwell while we loaded it onto the trailer on sunday but 15 mins wasn't too bad and at least we didn't get stuck.

  2. I try - believe me. You wouldn't believe the amount of commercial civilian types that we are now infested with that say "I don't see why we need a little tank on the gate - that's costing me money that is!".

It makes me f***ing spit and keeping the civvies (no offence) in line is challenging. The Striker (one of only 80 or so) would have gone for scrap, so would the Saladin if I hadn't been the sort of guy that could indulge a historic vehicle habit by virtue of rank rather than money (got the former, not the latter!). I am committed to ensuring that the Ashchurch Chieftain doesn't go to the smelters as it is quite rare.

Also got a Tornado and a Harrier............

Have you been in touch with the Tank museum at bovington they maybe intrested. I drive pass Ashchurch on the way to prescott at the weekends and always look at the Chieftain would like to have a real good look at it. Is it complete?

  3. There is nothing you can do about that John. If people have the time to complain/moan then they also have time to put it right.

You are doing a thankless job so well done you.

Well said Jack, the WNDSCREEN is about the best club magazine that is out there if you think it can be better please step forward and help the team out.

I agree with you Jack well done Lads

  4. The Warhorse tank and the original are 1:1. I have a photo of the 2 together in the WW1 hall at Bov - you can't tell the tanks apart, it really is an excellent copy. I think the TMC paid £160k for the Warhorse tank, but I assume they will be getting ack there investment for filming fees, etc.

Yes it has been out filming recently it is a very good copy of a Mk4 I dont know how much the TM payed for it but it is earning its keep .

  5. If some of the component parts are still intact then it may make the gun Illegal.. you would need a licence to hold certain component parts of a firearm.. those parts may need deactivating to current standards.. I have seen cutaways for sale with deac certs.. it may be worthwhile submitting the gun to one of the proofhouse's & get a cert to be on the safe side..

Good advice it takes away any questions that may arise if you sell it or the police.

  6. I belive there is a standard of deact that the proff house stamp confirms it is deatcted to the correct standard for the UK law. Its not only welding and blocking holes I belive the barrel is slit the firing pin and cocking parts are cut. a good deact you will not be able see it.

  7. Well if there deact to the UK standard whats the problem with the proff house stamping them with the correct markings a print docoment is easly lost, there is no reason why the dealer cannot arrange for it to be done. This would take any questions of complance with UK laws on this subject you after remember the local plod will treat any firearm has real untill proved otherwise just my veiw on it.
