  1. got it ! Rytecraft Scootacar 98cc 1937

Didnt these have the Villiers Junior engine in them, 98cc??

Same as used in the Welbike I believe.

Hows that for sexist.......Giving the Little Lady a little car....AND its soooo cute too:whistle:!!!!

  2. Your EP00 oil is actually a semi fluid grease used in auto lube systems on large plant. It can be used as a gear oil and only comes in 12.5 KG tubs. I have the correct full spec if you need it, but I dont know what effects a mopdern grease / oil will have on your older box as mentioned previous!

  3. I am about to buy one and it is a slight worry that engine parts etc might be slightly tricky to come by...?

Any good sources of spares would be great :)

theres a local guy a few miles away from me specialises in classic triumphs. always has them in his shop, breaks and repairs them. its called TRUBIKES, in Neston, wirral. think his names John.

  4. Hi Folks

The jeep will be restore back to Ford GPW 1942 in British guise. Probably as 56th London Infantry Div. known as the "Black Cats". My father served in North Africa and Italy with them.

    Best regards

    MB1944

I know the guy who bought it and he is returning it back to original. Compliments his other Jeep and trailer!!

  5. Just did that and its BLOOMING SNOWING!!!!!!

  6. Further to my comments about fair ground vehicles on the AEC armoured car thread, Mrs rog started a new job this month somewhere in deepest Berkshire.

I went along today for a look at her workplace and noticed, over the top of the nearby fence, the top of a typical showmans trailor load... then a bit further along a locked mesh gate revealed three two axled trailors all tarped up in a line....then I recognised the clerestory roof of a nice old living wagon.

On the way out I turned left ... by mistake... and came across

    Chassis cab mammoth major

    Atkinson 3 axle gennie truck

Foden, ex gritter at a guess, waltzer load

Turns out mrs rog works next door to the winter quarters of a well known show family, I need to get some introductions as an invite to that yard would be my idea of heaven:angel:

    can you give a name??

I do a lot of work for the fairgrounds that come around, they have local guys for whatever area they are in and i am the North West guy for a lot of them. Might know a few names to get you a back door pass!!!

  7. I have been trying to register as a new member on Maple Leaf with no joy.

They are saying that they do not register anymore because of spammers. I have gone through their procedures in the Contacts section twice now with a description of myself (no wonder they wouldnt have me!!!!:-X) and reason why I wish to join but no joy.

    Anyone else had this problem??

Any way to get registered differently???

Anyone drop a good word with the powers that be....??

I have noticed several members of HMVF on there..................so they cant be that fussy...............:iloveyou::bow::flowers::help:

  8. Intrigued, I looked this up. Creosote, which we used to preserve fence posts before the days of treated pine, was used to mask the smell of the cesspits during the great war. They must have used a lot of it. Creosote (2%) was also found to make the best louse insecticide in combination with naphthalene (96%) and iodoform (2%). I have given you the formula because I know you will all want to go off and make some. The downside of its use was that apparently creosote is noted as causing cancer in the scrotum of chimney sweeps. Not sure how that translated on the western front. Just thought you might like to know all this... but not sure why. Cheers.

Thanks.....now im going to have to stop rubbing the stuff on my nuts and give up the sweep business.....!!!! So much for free enterprise!!!:nut:

  10. Im a hydraulics engineer and can confirm the ISO 10w and 15w comment made.

Sod all difference in them and the OM is equivelant to an ISO 13.

We use mainly ISO 46 and ISO 32 all day long, the 32 goes in the older machines with a bit more wear in them!

Dont worry about mixing ATF oil, it mixes with all Hydraulic oil grades.

Just because its red doesnt mean its ATF either, JCB put a red dye in their ISO 46 and tell you that you need their "special" oil only and charge you the earth for it!!! LOL

I have also seen it in GREEN and BLUE!!!!

At the factory they only put ATF in the hydraulics of most Cherry Pickers because of the lower viscocity. Only because they dont know the climate the machines are going to, could be hot or sub zero! We always top the tanks up with HYD 46 (ISO 46) as recommended by NATIONWIDE ACCESS who supply them!

Any problems let me know I have a good source for oils and lubes if required.

  11. Good evening gentlemen,

I would consider fitting a steel plate ring under the bolts and then rivet together or add intermittent "stitch" welds around its OD, just to strengthen the original material and dissipate the load.

I would also like to thank you for such an interesting restoration thread.

    Andy

    1925 Napier Lion

    1913 Chalmers racer

I could see this working, nice tight fit round the centre spigot OD and out past the holes with good tack welds to hold all together, pulling it all in. A fabricator friend makes new arms and buckets for excavators and has just started using a new type of steel. cant remember what its called but he only needs 1/3 of the thickness for same strength, Welds great and less weight too! He can build an arm for a 20ton excavator using 10mm steel onstead of 30mm!!!!!!

Find out the name and post it for everyone.

  12. They tried it in Jersey in 17th century. Got chased off in twenty minutes by the Lt Govenors's Butler . They'd had the temierity to disturb his master's breackfast!

Yeah, but in the 17th Century we had an Army and Navy.....They could walk right in now and kick our arses with a tin opener and a pea shooter.....Thanks to Government cuts!!!!>:(

Maybe we should surrender first, and while they are confused and disorientated we can run away in in victory!!!:cheesy:

  13. Does it have to be a Universal/Bren carrier? Would a T16 do? If so ask Rick eddy8men

Im not too up on them, seen a few advertised on the yank websites but not side by side.

    Whats the comparison priceways?

Im open to anything interesting carrier related so a T16 would fit the bill

  14. Hi, I have a couple of bren gun carriers as pictured and am interested in contacting fellow like minded people to share restoration information. I am also looking for carrier parts and have parts to trade. drop me a line at kevinpowles@btinternet.com also looking for a dingo to purchase. thanks kevin.

Like minded as you mate but without the carriers...!!! LOL

Im looking for a project if you know of any, putting the feelers out for one.

    Any info greatly appreciated.

Good luck, any updates on these??
