  2. Thanks Robin: Just trying to get everything ready as i bought the 1954 Ferret today and i have a transporter picking it up wednesday...It will be on a 2000 mile trip they say that will take 5 days to get to me....In researching things i found out there are different ways to do things for the Ferret....Like in the wheel hubs/bevel boxes some have told me they use sae 50 motor oil...EP 75/90 gear oil....EP 80/90 gear oil....Just gear oil...Grease !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and then EP90 gear oil..... Then there is the fluid flywheel some have told me they use sae 30 motor oil....sae 40 motor oil...Hydraulic fluid....Transmission fluid..G4....G5......I just want to do what is right......... Thanks to all.... Joe
  3. For Ferret battery charging i have seen where some use a 24 V trickle charger.................I have 2-12 volt BATTERY TENDER trickle chargers would that be ok???? I would hook each one to each battery to it's own neg and pos terminals....I would not be disconnecting any battery cables.....I would plug both in after each Ferret trip as i would only be driving about every 2 or 3 weeks.... Thanks to all.......
  4. By the way Robin the Ferret i may purchase was from the Canadian Army...I am in touch with Colin and he is excited about it as it hasn't been in service in civilian life with any info........Hope the deal goes thru... Have a great day everyone......

  6. What's up is i feel like a fish out of water since i am very close to being a Ferret owner....Just appreciate all the advice i can get on things....Robin your one of the members that likes to share information and i really appreciate that...People like you and others are what this makes such a great forum and hobby.....IF anyone offers to PM me i may have Ferret questions that's all.....Just excited and worried, well all of you know the feeling....I know alot of you are still working and i am retired and have time on my hands,so i value your time.......I just don't want to be a pain to anyone bothering them with questions... I have read this forum over again many times about anything and all things related to the Ferret....Due to some problems i can't remember things too well anymore and just don't want to seem like a pest. Thanks to all for such a great forum and hobby....I can imagine how proud those of you that served with the Ferret are.... Thanks to all.... Sincerly, Joe ps.IF my deal goes thru i will post pics in about 2 weeks...

  10. THANK YOU.I also do searches before i ask questions however if a person doesn't word it just right in searching it won't come back.... I believe this to be Canadian as it has the Canadian front and rear signals and the Canadian metal shelf off the rear of the Ferret to carry jerry cans and such............ Anyone one else???? I certainly appreciate anyones response..... Thank you, joe
  11. Can someone please tell me IF a Ferret has an id plate welded on inner hull by drivers right shoulder how to decipher that id number....Say IF the number is 372 B 54...I know the 54 means it was manufactured in may 1954 but what is the B for? Is the 372 the production number for that year? Thank you all Sincerly, Joe
  12. Can someone please tell me what the current price and if readily available of an intercom and 2 helmets for a Ferret...The Ferret i am looking at has no radios, antenna or helmets...I am not concerned about a radio just intercom..Thanks....
  13. For those of you that have owned the Ferret MK1 did you ever think that you made a mistake by not getting a Ferret MK2/3? I have actively been looking to buy a Ferret and really like the MK2/3 with turret and such....With that said,i am having second thoughts that i might like the MK1 better for the room and the easier ability to enter and exit... Lets hear your opinions.... Thanks in advance....

  15. Can you folks tell me how hard is it to import a Ferret into the U.S.? I ask this as we in the USA have increasing laws on everything and i would be concerned about buying a Ferret in say the UK and then it be held up in the U.S...........How much approx are shipping costs from say the middle of the UK to the U.S. coast ???? Any tips you can give me? Did any of you run into previous problems even if years ago? Thank you and keep the hobby alive..
