Thanks for the info!!!... interesting about the Ghurka connection too!!! Today I found a pair of coveralls combat crewman's in olive green not dpm, in unissued condition paid £8 for em!!! I have been sorting out a few other items I have bought from charity/curio shops over the years which are not my really my interest, which is post war Austrian and also post war German!!! ..not so much of that in charity shops over here tho!! although I did find my first Austrian dot camo jacket in one a few years back, which started off my collection which is now a little out of control as I must have 30 odd jackets/parkas now!!! but that's another story!!!!!... and probably not one for here as 99.9 % of posts seem to be British army togs!!! anyway here's some pics, found a later type 80's smock which I think I paid £3 for ( I paid £1 for the tri colour U.S. Air force jacket...absolute bargain and badged too!!!) paid £15 for the desert dpm S.A.S. smock prolly going rate but its a really nice one!!!!.

Here are a couple of DPM items I picked up today in a local charity shop for a fiver each!!!!
the right-hand one in first pic is well worn but still very useable and has a flap at the rear
the left-hand one is in excellent/very light use condition and has newer type buttons.... both have marks to sleeves where insignia used to be (see photos)

original engine and a runner best one of the bunch!! at a price to match!!
and last but not least
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/munga-/191344186572?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2c8d0094cc
head gasket gone and total resto needed!!
anyone out there fancy a challenge!!!:nut:

Yup some fairly substantial "shrapnel" had to be dug out as it was still embedded in the soft ally head... pistons all looked great tho, so maybe a replacement second hand head or bottom end changed and the old head used ??!!!
what is it with the pictures upload !!??
it usually it puts them in time/date order,
this time its put them in the order I selected them ... now pics are not in sequence!!!
grrrr:mad:

mine is screwed to the top of the bulkhead right up behind the dash its a huge b*****d about four times the size of an austin mini one!!! but mine in operation is really quiet... unlike a mini one's deafening clatter!!!

Both Lanc's due to fly at the airborne show on the south coast in Eastborne this thurs to sunday... four day event!!! I stay down there every year for the weekend... looking fwd to seeing two lanc's thundering over the town and along coast!!! also they some times have a surprise guest!! Vulcan would be nice!!! fingers crossed sat should be the best weather wise!!

Looking good !!!!! yes mine seems to be quite a jump up in gear ratios from 3rd to 4th... I guess its to give it a higher/quieter top cruising speed!!! it also means it runs out of puff up steady inclines!!! lorry driving tactics "a good run up before a hill" applies!!!
you've obviously checked the carb float chamber level is correct as this is critical for these engines to produce their full power!!! all 44 BHP when new for the 1000:-D ....think mine is a long way off that!!! time to drop in the V6 two stroke made from two 3 cylinder units bolted together.. as Auto Union planned to put in at the end of the munga's run before VW took over and made the Iltis instead!!!!!!!!:cool2:

Sorry Alex ... I ment " replacement engined munga " as in a munga or as it turns out munga's x 2... One is already sold .. so the seller tells me !!! Both have replacement 1.1 opel engines!!
Did anyone one here buy the first one I wonder!!????
-
Hi Alex
good to hear your getting some more done!!! look forward to seeing some more pics!!!
I'm sure someone on here would know how to find out how many are registered with DVLA!!???... but they only have records for sorn or on the road vehicles...mine was unregistered and so to the DVLA it didn't exist !!!! until early this year!!! must still be a few more unregistered examples about sitting in farmers fields or hiding in barns!!!.... one replacement engine munga on eBay today I see.... and he also says there's a choice of two !!!!!! doesn't specify if there both F91/4 as the pics!!:undecided:

Good to see all your Munga's are out and about!!!.... can you tell me ???? on your M.O.T. did your tester scratch his head when you mentioned constant 4WD... for the brake roller test!!!! as they cant be tested on standard single axle brake test rollers!!! you could hear the brain cogs whirring on the bloke who did mine !!! shortest mot test iv'e ever had... minus.all the emission tests etc!!!!
