  1. Interesting comments regarding steel temperature during hardening. I was told by Fred S of Taunton Model Engineers that he uses a magnet on a wooden handle - when the magnet no longer "sticks" to the workpiece the hardening temperature has been reached. I have never tried this and assume there must be some restrictions on its accuracy e.g. "soaking" etc. Regards, Paul N
  2. Well done Steve. Perseverance paid off.:-D Regards, Paul N.
  3. Tony I read somewhere long ago, that if a little washing-up liquid is stirred in with the flux it will help with keeping the surfaces clean. I have never tried it. Have you? Regards Paul
  4. Hi Tony Good to see Dave is still fettling Please give him my regards when he returns during the week. Keep up the good work. Paul
  5. Hi. I joined HMVF a few days ago to follow the progress of the amazing Gosling family. I have known Tony and Steve for 20+ years, through our membership of Taunton Model Engineers, and have met Tim a few times. It has been quite some time since I have seen their collection and had no idea their work was being posted on any fora. A chat with Tony a few days ago led me to this forum and - well, I'm hooked. I will not be restoring any vehicles myself but just look on in awe at the work others do. Regards, Paul
