It says "Exercise Secret"

I have some more of the documents relating to this exercise, including some of the troop movement 'orders'. When i finally get it all scanned access will be much easier.

Just thought it might be of interest. It came from the same source as the Goodwood, Bluecoat and Normandy documents i have - Major Jackson, Montgomery's GSO2 (from memory).

I also have some reports from security officers apparently visiting in and around camps prior to D-Day, seeing what information they could get from any military personel they encountered, fascinating stuff and all hand written.

While i was looking for some of the original Dempsey material i have, i came across this. Part of a set of documents i have relating an exercise in 1941, dated 20th Jul 1941. It is "Text of the proclamation to the British Nation broadcast 0700Hrs 20 Jul".

It goes on "In spite of the understanding and goodwill the Great Britain has always exhibited regarding Northumbria as exemplified in the pact of Non-aggression....".....

If i remember rightly (the last time i did one was at the side of the road in Normandy, 2004), the diaphrapm operating 'rods' have a vertical slot cut in them, you have to push down and away so to speak - which means you need to fiddle a bit to work out where the slot is.

If it is any help, i can scan and post the page from the parts list if Stu gives it back.....

The Ponderosa show was the Ponderosa show, with it's own approach to what they were trying to achieve.

The Yorkshire Wartime Experience is our show, trying to achieve what we are trying to achieve.

A lot of effort is being put in, in an attempt to be able to show a coherent time line from WW1 Tommies all the way up to currently serving forces.

One of our main drivers in putting this event together is education and commemoration - of current serving forces just as much as those of up to 100 years ago. The 11:00 ceremonies on both days are our attempt to draw some attention to those who have been prepared to use the vehicles and equipment on display 'for real'. Opening the event for school parties on the Firday PM is proving a logisitcal nightmare but one which we will find a solution to.

Any proceeds from the event will be split between the Royal British Legion and SSAFA.

The clashes with other events is unfortunate, but we had a restricted window of opportunity to have access to the land.

We make no pretence to be expecting to get it right this first time, but in light of the above, all military vehicles, of all eras are welcome - as long as you book in.

All and any constructive feedback is always welcome.

Welcome to the Polsten club Gary, there are a few around. I know of three so there must be more.

I shredded a tyre on the way back from Croft the year before last and mine now has a pair of Mitas (i think they are) agricultural tyres fitted. The tread pattern is rubbish but better than not having any tyres at all!! (We had taken a chance long enough as they were original '44 dated tyres on it).

Parts in my experience are not easy to come by, just keep your eys and mouth open and eventaully someome who has them will hear you.

I have some spare magazines and two spare barrel boxes i don't need any more.

It is not the getting it off the trailer so speak which is awkward, that is all winch and jacks, it's the getting the trailer out of the way which takes a bit of doing...

and of course getting the trailer back under it....

To Hot to Handle was the name of this truck when we got 'her' - it will be renamed once the paint goes on.

Then there's the WC16, Studebaker US6, WC13 and Ford GP waiting in the queue - oh, and of course, Adam's WC9!

I have used thicker 1/2" [marine or exterior] (or whatever Napolean's equivalent is) and they have lasted 3 years so far including a Normandy trip with no problems.
