  1. Hi, I posted this in another Forum but so far no success so hopefully someone here can help. I have a trailer with the chassis nr OE5319 and no dataplate but it must have been made by Orme Evans. By using Rob van Meels book as a reference I first concluded that OE5319 is an earlier model and produced under contract S2559 or S6833. Unfortunately the table in Rob's book does not give the chassis or WD nrs for these 2 contracts. Now this weekend I've rubbed down some of the rear panel and can just make out X527... as the start of the WD nr so this must prove that the chassisnr OE5319 belongs to contract nr S2559 and the series X5274887 - X5278086. If anyone has an identifiable chassis/WD nr within that range then I can calculate what my correct number is. The remaining letters are very worn but it could be 52778.. or 52779... and the final figure might be a 3 8 or 9. I'll keep rubbing - carefully. I might be luckier on one of the side panels. Any info or advice appreciated. Thanks. DavidH Oslo
  2. John, Thanks for explaining the small plates. I've 3 AB trailers and all have these and both I and others have speculated over their use. But exactly how were they used ? If one has the wood pallet floor fitted, I do not see how they work - apart from using rope or cord to bind over the pallets. Thanks,DavidH Oslo.
  3. I have a Ford-GPW project with an identifiable frame number and I am fairly sure that it came to Norway as part of British equipment immediately post-War, before the US military aid took over in the 1950's. Unfortunately I have, so far, not been able to find it in Norwegian records. Is there anywhere in the UK that might have a record of a jeep's WD nr and other data including transfer to a foreign country or civil register4, based only upon the GPW-****** frame number ? I'm thinking possibly The Tank Museum, IWM, Army Museum ? Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks DavidH Oslo Norway (BTW I'll be posting this enquiry also in other forums in case you might see it elsewhere)
  4. The standard green canvas gasmask bag has a little cotton pocket in the bottom that can be secured with a pop-fastener. Does anyone know what this was used for ? Thanks in advance, David
  5. Hei, DavidH from Oslo Norway calling. A quick summary: Previously owned a Dodge WC-52 (Normandy 1994), 50% GMC 6x6 opencab, 50% GMC 6x6 Workshop. Presently own a GPW '42 (Normandy 2004 + 2009, Arnhem 2009, + a couple of Beltrings), a GPW '45 project, and 3 trailers - a Willys MBT, a British Airborne Lightweight 10-cwt Nr 1, and a later version called Nr 2 (only 2000 produced and quite a number here in Norway). And still I wonder why on earth have a hobby that needs more and more space for more and more things, and you need to burn fuel to get any enjoyment out of it. Crazy. DavidH
