  1. Thanks for that Super Moderator I don't know what us mere mortals would do without you, Beware the Kryptonite
  2. Hi I am afraid I do not have my 6 year old grandaughter here and I need to adjust my profile as I have moved not only house but country as well and cannot see how to do it. Also is there anywhere on these forums where people can put a contact detail on a master sheet incase anyone has a problem when away from home as I would like to include my details. The LAA (Light Aircraft Association) has this in case anyone has a problem when away from home they can contact a local person for help or contacts to get help. Regards Crippy
  3. Hi and welcome, I live just outside Market Harborough and rebuilt an MB over 7 years so if you need any help or information just give me a shout Steve
  4. Welcome on board Pino You do know that there is no cure for the HMVS or Hysterical Military Vehicle Syndrome. Were just north west from you near Corby. Regards Steve
  5. Taking the jeep out to France for the official first flight of the replica Mosquito that was built by a few old guys in a place called LUCON in France. I am hoping to get a shot of the jeep next to the plane at an airfield at Fontenay le Comte in area 85 in France on the 14th April. Best piece of news. I have found my first piece of the Dodge. It is the fan blades or helice ventilateur. He has a few other bits so I will make up a list and put it on here hopefully if I can get it translated and I can collect any bits people want at the same time. Steve
  6. Hi Everybody I know that really I should start with getting a Dodge and getting photos of it as I found it, then the shipping then the restoration etc etc etc. Well I am starting it a little differently. I decided first of all that I need something a little more accomodating for my stature than my 1942 MB. I also needed something that I could drive long into the future as my disability increased. The one that came to mind so that I coud adapt, and use the back for sleeping so I did not have to put the tents up was the Dodge WC54. As everyone knows finding one in good shape and at a good price is not easy so I thought I would begin at a different angle. I needed an auto box and wanted to keep the engine a petrol one. After many different visits to scrappers and people selling motors I decided to get a Mercedes W114 2.5ltr straight 6 which is on points and carbs. I found a beauty which had done just 75,000 miles and had service history to back it up. It may not look much like a Dodge engine and box but watch this space.
  7. Welcome to the forum, when you get your MV that is when your troubles start. Steve
  8. I am not sure yet as I got the info when I collected my jeep from Stephen at Dallas and it was only the engine and a box that I was looking at. I hope that the 4 x 4 system can be kept. The way I struggled to get in and out of the jeep today means that either the good lady will have to take over the driving or we may sell it and buy a WC that doesn't need any repair/restoration. Then again I have had the jeep for 9 years now and I thought I was doing well for costs on repairs but this year with new battery new steering box and everything else left no change out of £1000 so perhaps we will have to keep it.
  9. Hi Just got back from measuring a dodge engine and box so if anyone else needs to know here they are. A. Fan to back of engine 82cm B. Fan to and of gearbox 142cm C. Width between chassis rails 73cm D. Sump to top of head 60cm E. Sump to top of aircleaner 82cm These match pretty much with a 6cyl 250 mercedes engine and auto box so it looks like I may get this before I get the Dodge so will try and paint it in similar colours to the WC colours. Steve
  10. Hi If it can wait until this evening I will set one up for you. PM me with your email address or look at my details and contact me through mine. Regards Steve
  11. Thanks for that and I have made contact with a John Denny from South Midlands so we can see where that gets me.Again thanks for taking the time and effort.Steve
  12. Hi Vulture Well it is something he could do for me without me having to go over but if he was unable to do it I could try and get sometime to suit him. I need just a few measurements and approximate ones at that. A. Fan to the back to end of block B. Fan to the back end of the gearbox C. Width of the engine block. D. Height from base of sump to top of engine E. Height from base of sump to top of air filter. If he could get me those it would be great as I have my eyes on a 72 6cyl Mercedes engine and box with less than 75k and I wouldn't want to buy it if it would be too big. Thanks in advance Regards Steve
