Might have to have a crack at a land rover ride out/covoy as there a loads of different type of fun vehicles

whoa hold your horses there, who is campaigning for them to stop? i for one certainly aint.

lets not forget that lots of people died for something called "Freedom Of Speech" if someone wants to dress as a SS soldier be it in bad taste or not they have the right to do so.

if you really have such a major disliking of this why not go and email the second battle group who were there at the war and peace your concerns and see what they have to say as at the moment this is very much a one sided battle

Also a few people were overheard saying that civvy camping was too expensive so they booked "GHOST" vehicles into the show and got in for £25 even though they never had any Military Vehicles of any kind. This needs to be sorted out.

i heard this and asked about it myself anyone who comes to the booking in without a vehicle they have been booked in with WILL BE AND HAS BEEN charged the full amount for camping as public so that £50 odd quid for IMPS members or £105 for non members.

Incidentally if I ever own a Sherman ...usually seen as a 'Yank' tank I guess..she'd be done up as one from a British Armoured Reg..

...but it does nark me ...especially to see so many 'American' Jeeps and hardly ever one carrying British Army markings..

there are british jeeps *shudder* but they are marked as airbourne and nothing else hence why i do post war british and i dress to show the royal marines that would have served in my vehicle.

but at the end of the day a healthy discussion is just as good as anything its pointless going around the houses people do it and most of us cant work out why neither can i but heyho lets just carry on enjoying the hobby we have

I saw LAWS every where from dutch ones for £60, L66A2's for £80 and a few others for Silly £, So either they all sold o the Saturday or we were at differnet shows, lol

well i spent 3 days trying to find em and i asked a few people went to the stalls they were supposed to be on and they said they didnt even have any!

dont know any of the shops that have any do you?

i was looking for some more 44pat water bottle pouches but didnt find any lol

was also looking for a LAW 66 for my webbing but found none

At the rate they seem to be appreciating you may well look back on that as a deal in the not so distant future!

I dont hold anything bad in peoples views at all i just think that ruling out 'anything in living memory' is a bad idea as there are groups that portray other time periods and as such cant be ruled out of the grand scheme of things.

Yes there are some very deranged people out there that spoil it all for the masses of re'enactors that purely do this represent the fighting man be they french, german, itallian, english, dutch whatever i do feel that it takes a certain amount of courage to understand what happens in war and accept that the SS or whever did do some horrible and nasty things but not all germans in a SS uniform are evil and wrong infact i have met german veterans who were in the SS and are nice people who were never part of any killings etc they were the elite of that time period and without someone showing this then why bother even keeping vehicles that were designed to kill? Isnt that the same as putting on a uniform? The uniform does not make you evil, the vehicle is not a weapon its all down to intent if there intent is to show off the uniform and state this is what a SS soldier wore so be it same as showing the fact of a tank designed solely for the purpose of killing other tanks and the crew

Yes Jonny, I am with you 100% on this one and it wouldn't be right, balance wise just to have allied forces in attendance because there would be nobody for them to war with !!! I personally have never understood why middle aged British chaps want to dress up as GI's or 101st Airborne soldiers !!! The only reason I can think of is that their uniform is pretty smart....Like the German uniforms ! Maybe this is why we have so many of them both !!!

personally i like getting dressed as a royal marine but even they have a colourful history lol

rule of thumb, both sides do good and bad in war american troops in the second world war did kill surrendering german soldiers but thats not to say we shouldnt dress as US troops.

think of the british army and bloody sunday, but does that stop people dressing as NI era paras, nope.

if the balence is there in such terms of just because you have a uniform that was warn by people who were mindless killers doesnt mean that the people in them now think the same!

if we didnt show both sides of a conflict then what would be the point in doing living history or re-enacting thats just sweeping it under the rug.

we have had a afgan re-enactment this year and nothing has been said about the russians laying waste to afgan villages when they were attacked killing men, women and children.

remember history is written by the victors but why cant the loosers still show there side of the story

i have got 3 full sets of 58 inc map cases, pistol holsters etc full set of OD plce DPM plce i am currently working on 37 and 44 lol

i use all mine for airsoft and some living history so they are set up to be used so might not follow the handbook but it works for me lol
