I was inspired to post these are seeing great work done by Cannuck on the old Tamiya Mk II Universal Carrier. These are the RIICH Models 1/35th scale Mk I, Ii and III, Airborne, .303 Vicker MG Carrier, 3" Mortar, Mk I and IIC WASP's as well as some Tamiya Carriers with RIICH Models track sets. Cheers Kevin

Hi Cannuck, Really nice work. That is great work with the old Tamiya Universal Carrier. Have you tried any of the RIICH Models Carriers in the same 1/35th scale? They do a MK I, II and Airborne Mk III as well as a Vickers Machine Gun Carrier, a 3" Mortar Carrier and Mk I and IIC WASP's. They also do a set of tracks with running gear, drive sprockets that update the old Tamiya tracks and wheels. You have now inspired me to do the Mk I that I have had in the stash for a while. This is T189511 ACHILLES A Sqn 5 Troop 1st Royal Tank Regiment, 22nd Armoured Brigade, 7th Armoured Division. In the end I went with the Hobby Boss individual track links which although a pain to complete had little or no clean up required as the Airfix had sink marks on all of the individual links and regular sink marks on the length pieces. None of the stowage has been secured down as I am not sure of the layout as yet. Despite the issues with the wheels and the turret the rest of the kit was a nice build with little or no other issues. This is the new Airfix 1/35th scale Cromwell Mk IV kit no. A1373. The road wheels were replaced with Sovereign 2000 Cromwell/Challenger ( damaged tyres ) kit no. S2KA013 as these have the correct number of wheel nuts 8 as opposed to 6 on the Airfix kit. I also replaced the majority of the turret and side plates from a Tamiya Cromwell, kit no. 35221, as these had the 4 bolts on the pistol port as oppose to none on the kit part. I also added a turret bin from the spares box. The tracks are the rubber flexible tracks, the kit gives the option of a choice of link and length too. I am undecided as to which to use yet as I also have a couple of sets of Hobby Boss Cromwell tracks, kit no. 81004, individual links. HB suggests 123 links per side where as Airfix has 121 on the link and length set but this is where the track rests on the top of the middle 3 wheels. All it needs now is some wiring to the spot light and side lights, the hawser adding ( no cord/twine provided in the kit ), aerials and possibly the cowling. Now to painting and marking. Despite the issues with the road wheels and pistol port to name a few it was all in all nice build with no fit issues at all even with Tamiya and Sovereign replaced parts. Hopefully Airfix will release other Cromwell/Centaur versions such as AA, ARV and dozer WITH CORRECTED PARTS – Airfix if you are listening. Cheers Kevin

This is the Gecko Models 1/35th scale kit of the Bedford MWD (closed cab). This follows on from the MWC water tanker and the MWD (Aeroscreen). All were a joy to build.Driver figures are the 2 MWD kits with the others tweaked from the Riich Models Universal Carrier crews.CheersKevin

These are a couple of photos of a probably 30+ year old 1/35th scale model of what I think is an early Bedford OYD in a French (?) company called Phebus Models. The last time I checked their website they do not seem to have this in their range of resin and PE kits. It has been on a shelf untouched for years. It is need of a re-build and a bit of TLC as there are bits missing so I have a few questions if any of you guys who have restored the real thing. 1. How is the tilt supposed to be attached? 2. Should the cargo bed be sheet metal or wooden planks? 3. Mirrors, round or oblong? 4. What would the bridge weight be? Hopefully one day someone will release this as a plastic kit. Anyone Bronco? MiniArt? Gecko as a follow up to their MW range? Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Hi, The Para on the bike is from Bronco's 1/35th scale WWII British Paratroops in Action set A. I also have the Airborne 6 pdr and 75mm Pack but could not fit them on the dio. Currently working on the Gecko Models 1/35th scale Bedford MWD (closed cab). Cheers Kevin

Attached are pics of 7 Airborne Jeeps and figures.5 of the Jeeps are 1/34th scale from Bronco, the Signals and Recce, Jeep and Trailer, 75mm pack and 6 ponder. The other 2 are from Tamiya one being the old desert SAS Jeep from the 70's(?) and their later 1/4 ton truck. All were a fun build and it was a bit of a challenge to convert the Tamiya Jeeps especially the SAS Jeep.The figures and bits and pieces are mixture of Bronco, Dragon, Tamiya and Tristar with lots from the spares box. The base is the Farmyard Wall and Gateway from MiniArt that managed to widened slightly.CheersKevin

Hi Bob, Apologies for late reply I was away ( Local ) for Christmas and just got back. I have RODNEY but DESIREE is new to me but if the Ark I am thinking of is CHELMSFORD if the is the one park up against a sea wall with a Sherman going over the top. I had a quick look and there are a few more named Churchills on there too. I was not aware of Tank Chats so that will be something to pour over the next few days I am sure there must be the odd name from Matildas, Crusader, Cromwell, Comet, Stuart. Sherman etc. Thanks for remembering my name database all new additions will be on V6, as it appears that IWM have added a lot of new images I have already added 140+ new WWII names to V5. This is the Gecko Models 1/35th scale MWD 15cwt ( OpenCab - Aeroscreen ). Markings are Welsh Guards, SCC2 is a paint mix I wasn't too happy with as it seemed a little dark so I weathered it ( too much? ). Figures are from Tamiya, on the left and the figure from Gecko's MWC 15cwt Water Tanker on the right. As with the MWC the MWD was a nice build although I don't think I quite did it justice. This is still missing in plastic sadly with currently only a resin conversion being available.The Flail is from Resicast, Sherman is the Dragon Sherman V. I know it is missing side chain racks, lane marker guide poles oh and of course markings but after 15 + years I will try and get around to finishing it. The base is MiniArt farmyard gate.And yes I know the gates are the wrong way around and no it would not fit through the archway either.CheersKevin

Hi Simon, Yes I entirely agree that it seems strange that no one has taken up the challenge. This has been a much wanted vehicle kit for years. I am happy to add drawings, photos, census numbers and vehicle names to any model company who is going to release this in 1/35th scale. As you say the Humber and Morris LRC's are also missing and much needed. Sadly though it seems that many of the model companies are happy to just churn out Tigers and Panthers month after month. It wouldn't surprise me if there are more Tiger kits than actual Tigers made. Cheers Kevin

Hi, The only ones that i have heard of from various sites are:- Airfix in 1/32nd - personally I have never seen this kit Sovereign 2000 in 1/35th - not currently showing on their site but many be available on some sites Friendship Models in 1/48th - currently showing as in stock on their site Bandai Models in 1/48th - this is another old kit so not sure of availability Cheers Kevin

Sadly not in plastic ....yet.This is the old Sovereign 2000 Daimler Armoured Car Mk I. A solid resin hull, open turret but no interior detail, axles, part suspension, barrel, wheel arches / mud guards, exhaust and various bits are white metal making this small kit very heavy.CheersKevin

Gun is the Bronco 17 pdr with a mixture of crew figures from Bronco 17 and 25 pdr gun crew, and Riich Models British 3" Mortar Team NWE.CheersKevin

Or at least what my late father used to call them in Malaya in the late 40's / early 50's. The gun is the old Tamiya kit with some tweaks / updates, the limber is from Bronco, with the figures being a mix of Bronco 25 pdr crew set and RIICH Model 3" Mortar Team in NWE set. The base is from MiniArt and yes the door diagonals are the wrong way around. Cheers Kevin

Gun is the Accurate – Armour 1/35th scale BL 5.5” Medium Field Gun. I built this resin kit many years ago. It can be built in firing or transport mode and with a little work can be modelled in both positions, the gun also comes with loose ammunition, boxes and loading tray. The figures are a mixture of Bronco, from 25 pdr crew and RIICH 3” Mortar Team in NWE and their 6 pdr crew all with a few tweaks. The gun has seen better days and this needs replacing with a new styrene kit and figures both in firing and transport poses. Cheers Kevin
