I did a stint in the ACF in 1986 and we had a smart uniform then consisting of the Wooly Pully over a hairy mary(or Bundy if lucky!!!)shirt and worn with trs that if my memory serves me correct we called barrack dress or barrack greens???

How its allowed/tolerated these days i dont know but have you seen the shape and badge position of some berets these days:cry::cry::cry::cry:,its not a fashion parade, what next, wearing their trousers half way down their ankles:D:D
So looks like the Falklands theory of berets being cloth as opposed to leather banded is correct?
-
Any ideas please what the deal is with the nylon/cloth banded British berets,IE when they came into service etc as i remember quite a while back someone saying that all Falklands period berets were nylon/cloth banded and NOT leather.
Thanks

It is indeed a MK1 set but not i think original unfortunately.
-
been after a full set of 58 webbing but never seem to be any about when i have the funds
You have a PM:)
-
A few more oddities,in a horrid mushy pea colour(have a full set somewhere).
-
This set is how i got it with nothing added or changed by myself and has been used by somebody at sometime-cadet maybe??
Ammo pouches, yoke, water bottle pouch and kidney pouches are of the 1st type and bizarrely seem to be scaled down, the water bottle pouch wont even hold a bottle:cry::cry:
-
And its a private auction as well which makes me suspicious regarding shilling>

Nasty:D:D:D
Have a couple of Aertex vests somewhere that i guess went with these?
-
So would an early Large Pack also have a press stud instead of an LTD as i have a 1961 dated "early" pack(different strap ends) and that has the LTD.
-
Still a fair bit of Green PLCE on Ebay so no panic buying just yet:-)
-
1st pattern Yokes........(no sewn strips across the padded yoke sections to help retain the large pack straps).....and very early issues have a press-stud securing arrangement for the pick or shovel handle.....
I know it has been mentioned in that webbing book(no pics) but has anyone ever seen one in the flesh so to speak or even in pics as i cannot think how a press stud would secure a pick or shovel handle????
I have 2 of the yokes without the large pack attachment strips but both have the LTD stud.

Over the past 20 or so years i have amassed a large amount of 58 Patt webbing, probably 10-15 full sets and various bits and pieces as sometimes you have to buy a load just to get the 1 odd pouch or item.
I gather that quite a few foreign countries used it and have some strange Pea Green bits-some British Maker marked but most unmarked and was hoping they could possibly be Iraqi and also have a set of what conforms to the early style and colours but just dont seem right due to construction etc so is there or is/was there ever REPRO 58 Patt around(cant imagine why as its so plentiful)
Would be great to have a thread on 58 Patt as while pretty much unloved its an important part of British Army load carrying equipment.

Thanks.
Strange they have no Military issue markings inside.
-
Soles look Military but no NSNs etc inside,Civvy or Issue?
-
Only just noticed that these smocks have different coloured linings, any reason for this?
-
Seeing as im having a bit of a sort through of my hats/caps etc thought i would post these 2 up. The stamping, makers details and date etc are under the oilskin waterproofing and hard to get decent pics--

Would be interesting to see pics of them in use as its quite a bizarrely shaped cap.
Also, dumb question but there is a slot for a badge of some sorts to the front,an RAF cap badge?
-
Great stuff-Thanks Guys.
There was an Ebay seller not that long ago who from memory had 3-4 caps, again from memory were similar or the same and had some from of DZ patch sewn to one side??
-
Anyone got any ideas on these please as to who they were issued to etc?. The markings on the used one have completely vanished.
Thanks
-
Unfortunately these days sellers are using the high Ebay prices as their benchmark prices.
-
VERY hard to come by as well with the trs even harder to find.
-
Do you have an item number or link please?
Thanks
