  1. Hello Everyone, I bought this Trailer last August and towed it all the way to Malta it survived the 2000mile journey, fully loaded with parts without a single problem Departure Day Black forest Germany Straight away i started taking things apart with the intention to get everything working and storing it until i finish my Rover 8 FFR but i got carried away the front bit was quite rotten and there was no way i could repair it so i ended up rebuilding the whole front and finally this is how it looks now more photos here http://s719.photobucket.com/user/cstivala/library/Brockhouse%20Half%20Ton%20Narrow%20Track%20MK1?sort=3&page=1 I will try to update at least weekly Chris
  2. thanks for that clive. the trailer is a mk1 Brockhouse 1/2 ton narrow track the housing should be original because i have seen it on other identical trailers. what you said makes sense. i will blast and paint the inside and leave it then thanks

  6. hi ivor thanks for the interesting news the wing came off a donor vehicle im afraid and the other one is not light stone however the rover 8 im restoring is very likely from the same batch of vehicles that served in the middle east it would be nice to see any photos because i dont have any history RLC museum dont have records for mine either according to geoff fletcher my chassis number became 08EK67 and was under contract WV496 but might not be correct because in that contract there were only 12v vehicles while mine has a lot of 24V evidence
  7. hi all, found this painted on RHS wing of a series 2a Land rover, does it have any meaning apart from the obvious no8? Chris
  8. made my own NATO plug didnt feel like spending 50pounds since its temporary
  9. this is a little bit complicated because i just bought a sankey but the lights dont work so the owner fitted additional lights with the 7 pin connector so i just need a solution just to collect the trailer. once the lights are repaired i will no longer need the 7pin system

  16. thanks for your input everyone i will speak to a colleague of mine who has a lot of electronics knowledge, but for the time being i will focus on something else since its probably better to have all the wiring in place to test the charging system Chris
  17. thanks to both for your help so you think im better off replacing the elements with diodes and resistors and not find a NOS unit? i have 2 of them but both have corroded elements
  18. hi all, im sorting out the electrics for my Rover 8 FFR restoration, and the last bit of the puzzle is the Rectifier (Toast Rack) Nearly all the fins are corroded and peeling but i dont think they are coated with just paint, it looks like a Lead like material. can it be repaired or should i look for a new one? i havent tested it yet to see of it works but will not be installing in such a state Chris

  22. thanks for the warm welcome everyone! Ivor i will be gald to take you around just send me a pm and we will exchange contact details. it would be nice if i can see some pictures of your 2a. here in malta we have the Malta Historic Vehicle Trust and they have around 10 ex military/police/fire land rovers which include 3 lightweights around 4 2a's an ex fire brigade foam spraying range rover etc etc.... at the moment they are restoring a s2a ambulance. they also have very rare vehicles i was there yesterday and i went nuts Niels the aim of the Malta Historic Vehicle Trust is to save whats left of vehicles that have a historic and social significance to Malta in mind. im sure you can get a lot of help if you get in touch with them. chris
  23. Hi all, my name is chris and im from the tiny island of Malta! i have a passion for classic vehicles especiallly military ones. at the moment im in the middle of a nut and bolt restoration on a 1962 Land Rover Series 2a ex Mod, still quite a lot to do due to the fact that its very difficult so source parts. i am also researching its military history but im still at the very begining since most of its military features have been removed way back in the 70's when it arrived in malta. if you follow the link below ou will see some pictures of the restoration thanks for activating my account Chris
