Hi all
just bought a can am 250 . The bike was only issued to one unit which was 101 Pro coy RMP , base in JHQ Rhine D. It was with the unit from 1979 till disposal in 1985. Looking for any info on unit markings and equipment that might have been fitted to a RMP bike.

Some great news folks!
First of all the weather forecast is looking good for the rest of the week & weekend, so we have one more aircraft, a hot air balloon so we can have an aerial photograph of us all on the Saturday evening, but just hope the wind stays low.
And now for the really good news... drum roll please...
Its taken 18 months to get this vehicle out of the US and its now going to be making its debut at our show. It finally arrived at Southampton docks a couple of weeks ago but then found it had a brake problem, but got the call 5 mins ago to say its all good to go. So its really made my day to say that we will be having an LVT Water Buffalo & I can't wait to see it.
cheers
Paul
Looking forward to seeing the Buffalo.
RB all sorted and the champ is ready on the trailer. Should see you early Thursday evening all being well.

Hi All
a friend has sent his application for a v5 two weeks ago , he called today and was told the there is no record of his application. Has anybody had this problem. The main problem he has now is that he did not copy his paperwork the important one being the release papers. I have just had my Rb paperwork back in seven days so it's not the work load at the DVLA . Any ideas

Well that was quick
latest extract from the DVLA regarding registering a vehicle
The MOT certificate can be a V112 or V112G if the vehicle is exempt
So you are correct no need for a cedrtificate of insurance.....................you learn something every day
(means I have got to change my letter again :undecided:)
Supporting documents needed for all vehicles
As well as documents to prove your identity, you must also send:
- the cost of the vehicle tax
- the new registration fee of £55, if you have to pay it
- a current MOT certificate, if the vehicle is over 3 years old
- a certificate of newness (or declaration of newness for imported vehicles), if the vehicle’s new
- any documents you have relating to the vehicle - eg build plans if it’s a kit car
- evidence of type approval (if required)
You must also send an insurance certificate or cover note if you’re in Northern Ireland.
bye the way are you doing Smallwood this year ?

Dave
You did indeed and many thanks for that
I have been in touch with my contact in the DVLA today regarding our "new man on the inside" so will be interesting to see the response.
As I keep saying there should be no problems with registering any vehicle providing you give them the details and the paperwork is in order then everything should be OK
They follow a process and if everthing is OK then out pops a V5 and a reg number
Interesting comment about insurance earlier, I have double checked and the DVLA request a copy of the insurance, so I would send it!!!
HI Chris
called the DVLA today to see if I could send in my insurance mid process and was total again that I did not need to send it as it is not required . The operator ask wot paper work I Had sent and said all was in order , the only reason that my application would be sent back is if I Had not filled in the paperwork correctly !!!
Regards Tony
-
Hi I know that if everything is in order it works but when you phone them up and they give you duff info about insurance paperwork then that does not help. And it not likely to be in order.
Regards Tony
By the way Chris I am not having a pop, the help you gave me with the champ was invaluable . You would just think that when you ask a question about registration to the organisation that process the application for registration then you would hope that they get it right . Or am I asking to much
Regards Tony

Unfortunately the local offices are closed so we are where we are!
They quote 6 weeks to process the application, in practice they are taking less than that
As I say if everything is in order then it works!
You can download the paperwork needed from the DVLA website, I think I have posted it on here and I send a copy to each applicant with the verification letter

Hi
ref the insurance when I called to confirm the paper work required , the operate also double checked with her supervisor that no cert was required as the rules had changed. So this looks like it's going to drag on as they have had my application a week with contact details and no has got on to me to say there is a problem. Great services face to face was a much better, iron out any problems there and then.
Regards Tony

A week!! ...give them a chance,
The website quotes six weeks, in reality its taking about 2 weeks for most people.
Diana
Not wanting to moan but it was there and then when we had a local office.
-
Not a chance I will pass you his details, and yes all paperwork must be included with any application including a dating letter, registration fee, insurance etc...
Diana

Rmp can am 250 unit markings
in British Vehicles
Posted
yes had a quick look but nothing with a can am , I think they had a RMP marking on the front mud guard , as the bike only served with one unit it would be great to get the markings right, also the mileage shows just 1500 miles , so trying to fined out if the RMP used the bikes that much, I was with the RCT and we were always out and about with the bikes.
