  1. Well thanks for the answers and the reply I got was from the guy was "thats why we got the good units as you could add extra protection." Im sure I would rather be in the 430 than a 113 as you could see the holes in the sides were they were hit with heavy rounds. Little did he know that if our government of the time was not suck holing the US then he would have been riding around in one.
  2. Hi Robin and Adrian, I was asked this question by an ex APC guy and had to say I did not know as he was in the M113's in Vietnam. Robin I am not tiring to achieve anything so dont worry as I will pass the answers along to him and thank you.. Ray
  3. Hi all, has any of the members on here ever seen any 430's vehicle with a section of spare track mounted across the front of the vehicle, if so is there any photos of it and dose any one know how it could be done or was done as there really is no mounting points, I have seen it on the US M113a and other models tracked vehices, all help would be thankfully received.. please post or PM me any information.. Ray.
  4. Hi Terry, who is H please, unknown to me. Im still chasing a Door seal but Marus Glen is to much paper work just for a bit of rubber.
  5. Terry, did you have it supported with a crane or some sort of support to stop it moving?
  6. Thank you Terry, it is a starting point as that cover is very heavy, Andy, I went through those manuals and gave up as I could not find any thing to do with this subject. thanks for the input Ray
  7. Hi Guys, yes I have a broken spring on the drivers hatch of my FV439. I have no removal or replacing details so could any one with a manual that covers this section please help with a scan of that section. The weight of the lid is very heavy and would make just taking it off a dangerous job with out details. I would be very thank full for a scan and send me a copy of that section. Ray
  8. Hi members, I was in contact with Chas tonight who tells me that there is a company making a replacement seal, dose any one remember who it was or which thread it was in please as I still need more seals... Ray
  9. Today we drove out to the farm/war museum about 220kms away to check them out. The place has been changed into a paint ball area and after talking to the owner we found out that some one came and payed for them and they are now gone but they were two from the batch at the Bathurst Army Base sale, I will do some more checking for you.. Ray
  10. Just had a long talk with the archive section and it has been with a lot of regiments and in Germany. Thank you for your help so now we can move on to the units to find out more... Ray
  11. Thank you, will do it after and see were I end up.
  12. Im afraid it will go back into the ground were it came from with the way he stores cars, he has 300 in his collection and they are all going down hill fast which is a shame as there were some nice vehicles in the shed and the rest sitting in the open paddock.
  13. There were 93 of them in the army dump about 35Kms away from here and they just were lost, I have been told they were buried on the base but no one can give me a answer as it happened in the last 10 years. There were a thousand SLR's cut into three bits and buried and we know were they are but it would be nice to crack the turrets. Ray
  14. Hi all, I have been asked to find a Stuart M1 Turret for a friend that has the vehicle but no top, it was used in a timber yard for many years after the war and is now sitting in a field rusting but the has said he will restore it if I find one, personally I think it will never be done and I will end up with it I hope. Ray
  15. I think I know were there may be an "A" and a "B" turret but they are here in Australia and I will be heading to the area on Thursday, would you like me to check for you. The shipping would be a nightmare but can be done... Ray
  16. Depends were you are, as i know were there could be a roll of them... Ray
  17. Hi Doug, I have a 30cal set up that Im not using as it will not fit myFV439. Im in Bathurst but are you at.. I will try and add a photo but it was made in Bedford Shire and is listed on the id plate as being for a 30cal. Ray
  18. 1) my fv at the local show were the driver nearly squashed the car in front. 2) driving around the show ground for fun with no one around. 3) what the inside looks like just now. 4) the ID plate. 5) the other one that was for sale.
  19. Hi Robin, well as to your answers could you tell me about the information request to Her Majesty"s Government through the email form? As to who acquire the vehicle and were they the first custodian, I have no idea as we picked it up from Gumtree here in Australia and it was owned by a mining company in Western Australia who stripped out most of inside and what was on top. it was one of two owned by them as the other was complete and $10,000 than mine so thats why we took this one and it was working as we found out later when my friend got the second one with heaps of problems which he now would like to sell. I have purchased a heap of parts to refit it and we use it to crush cars and trees around the farm. It was one of a group imported into Australia some time back and spent its time here on the Western Australian gold fields moving miner’s around till it was taken out of service and left in a holding yard in Perth till my wife found it on the internet for sale, she knew I was after one so arranged for it to be shipped over to where we live and to shut me up. With these details.. No. EA 16 75 on the ID plate and painted on the rear number plate area, Code No 07353001, FV439 Type 1, Hull No S1475. It cost over $4000 to ship it across the country at the rate of $1 per kilometre. I will put it up at this and try to do the photos as another post... Ray
  20. Hi Andy, I was just looking at their site but Im not sure what to ask for or how far do the records go on the vehicles, do they cover the areas of service as I have questions about the colours that are on it that have been painted over, 1 sand, 2 dark green, 3 pale blue, 4 light brown and black as its last coat.
  21. I decided to trace my vehicles history and I used an address that I was given but my letter was returned with no longer at that address, could some one tell please who to contact as I have no paper work for it. I asked on another site but I am locked out at this time so could any one supply some Ideas and costing if known. Thanks Ray
  22. Hi Terry, why not, please give me a call and PM the mobile number, Ray
  23. Thank you, they do have three ball mounts on the bottom ring, I was hoping for it to be from some other vehicle so I could get back a bit of cash to cover the costs as I dont know of any truck collectors out here and the other boxes can stay were they are, thank you.. Ray
  24. While chasing a stash of WW2 jeeps we found some big boxes hidden in the undergrowth, very carefully opening one due to the change of a deadly snake asleep inside we found this gun mount for some vehicle but no other clues except that it was made in 1959 by the packing slip which was still inside its envelope which said it was a CL/MG 229A 50calAA MG L1A1 I was able to get four out and on the trailer with the help of a near by crane. Dose any one know what its off please. Please note this is in another heading to get as many to see it.
