  1. This event is not run by an MVT area and without becoming political I don't think the MVT C.o.M would want to hear anything about it except that it had folded;) I have been involved in helping to run and organise shows for the pass 16 years and agree that you can not please everyone. As a member of the local MVT group and helper/organiser of the Trucks and Troops Show (although stepped aside this year due to organising my wedding) I take huge offence at this comment. I visited Overlord on Sunday (only day I could visit due to work) and I am friends with a lot of the shows organisers etc, before making off the cuff comments, joking or not I suggest you get your facts right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STOP DRAGGING THE PAST UP! THESE COMMENTS AREN'T HELPFUL AND ARE USUALLY MADE BY PEOPLE THAT DON'T KNOW THE FACTS. As said it's a hobby maybe we should all work together instead of poking holes in other peoples efforts and if you feel that something could be done differently then be polite and then maybe suggestions will be listened to, as an organiser I welcome feed back, it shows other points of view and can bring about change for the better. .
  2. Hello from the south coast. My name is Dan and I can normally be seen at shows with Debbie my partner (soon to be wife) and Phoebe our daughter. We are normally seen at shows in some form of 1940's dress including Phoebe in her 1940's pram. We have a 1944 Dodge Weapons Carrier (WC52) and also resently purchsed a 1939 BSA M20 motorcycle (formally owed by the late Chris Davies). We are also known for our tent, a British Military 20 foot by 20 foot, which stands out at most show sites. The tent has power and heat (a smaller version of rcubed residence if you have seen thiers) and we always welcome visitors to chat and be social. We look forward to seeing you all out there. Dan, Debbie and little Phoebe
  3. This would suggest that I am not an enthusiast!!!!! Many things have been addressed and points of views listened to. The road run that I organised that was very well received and will be back this year. Yes the show had low points in 2011 but when over 70 vehicles that are booked in deciding not to show up the organisers can't be solely to blame. So we hope that the show will bounce back this year and we are looking forward to attending both shows for a change.
  4. Hi All, I have been asked by the Davies Family to firstly thank all those who have posted so far, for their kind words and to secondly let everyone know the full details for Thursday. Christopher Davies' Funeral Ceremony will be held at St Paul's Church, Allaway Avenue, Paulsgrove, Portsmouth at 12:30pm on Thursday 30th June. The Committal will then be held at Waterlooville Cemetery at 1:30pm. The Wake will be at the Woodpecker Pub, London Road, Waterlooville. The Family have said it would be nice to see some military vehicles on this day but are aware that parking at some of the venues is tight. Those who wish to wear uniforms are welcome (usual MVT dress rules apply). The request has been made for family flowers only and donations to be given to Combat Stress, through Grady's Funeral Directors as stated by Rosie. In traditional Davies Family Spirit they have asked me to apologise for the short notice, due to unalterable family arrangements. On a personal note, Chris was the one who got me involved in the military vehicle scene to the level I am today. They were great times, even when he took sheer delight in molding my cold, soaking wet beret to my head. There is now a gap that will never be filled. The immortal words as I left his house one night on my motorbike will be there forever; "KEEP IT BETWEEN THE TREES". As will his face when my partner started having contractions for the birth of our daughter in his garage, but that's a story for another day. R.I.P mate PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD. LET'S GIVE HIM THE SEND OFF HE DESERVES. IF YOU THINK YOU WILL BE BRINGING AN MV PLEASE CAN YOU LET ME KNOW AS WE ARE TRYING TO RUN IN CONVOY THANKS. DAN MAJOR 07956434645
