It seems from the comments so far, some MV owners feel that just turning up will get them in for free, and that thats all the effort they need to make. Well sorry this is no longer the case. The paying public expect to see it looking right, and it does not do the museums worldwide reputation any good by having low standards.
I have a great respect for all MV owners, but the dresscode will still take effect at events
Never mind how much it costs to get there.

Carbide lamps asre still used by potholers
Still got my carbide lamp somewhere. Also used to be used on Crow Scarers

on checking the bearings found they were worn but serviceable all but one and the seal was ok:sweat:now need another bearing chisg. outer timken 71760, inner timken 71437 roller taper bearing there is other stuff on it but cant read it :-D
I'll get on it tomorrow lazy day to day :coffee:

Taper rollers were in production at the very end of the 19th century so they may have been more expensive and also a new idea. So they may have chosen something more proven.
