  1. Hi,

is there a plan or grid ref for the site for those who did not attend last year ?:nut:

    Ashley[/quote

    From last year

Base camp location is a field of some 28 acres just off the A303 WESTBOUND.Turn left into Sarsen Lane, 3000mt west of the junction for the A343 at Andover.

This left turn is Immediately before the plate girder Railway over-bridge and is signed immediately before with brown heritage signs proclaiming HAWK CONSERVANCY

which is immediately opposite our camp site.

If travelling Eastbound on the A303 then you will pass under the railway bridge and carry on to the exit for the A343 / A342 round the roundabout and back over the A303 around the next roundabout and back onto the A303 now heading Westbound and then proceed as above following the Hawk Conservancy signs. (MAP BELOW)

Google Mapshttp://maps.google.com/Paste in the following reference and it will land you on the Camp site 51.2089,-1.559758 .

Post Code for Sat Nav. IsSP11 8DY OS map reference is SU308457

NOTE: There is a bridge height restriction of 13’ 5” as you turn left into Sarsen Lane. Transporter Loads that will not pass under this bridge will be unable to attend. Unless you can find an alternative off-load point.

Large vehicles should not attempt an approach up Sarsen Lane from the south.

  2. Sorry to correct you Chris, the Champ winch was driven by a PTO mounted on top of the transfer box, same unit fitted to the rare Champ Fire tender our mutual friend had in for axle repairs, he has some pics, the winch fitted in the well on top of the fuel tank, there are only a few Champ pto's in existance, so to recreate one would be a very expensive engineering exercise

Check out the Austin Champ owners club for more info, I think there is a pic of a pto unit in their photo archives

    shouldn't post when tired :(

  3. Hey all,

I'm thinking of getting a new toy, something to keep in the garage and work on as a pet project, nothing serious but a fun thing, and to poodle about to and from work in occasionally, was thinking possibly a champ, but know little about them.

I want to keep it sub 5k and, like I said, do some work on it myself so certainly don't want anything mint condition.

What would the learned members of the forum here suggest?

    Alex

might know of a champ for sale if you're interested you're welcome to look at my champ if you want

    Chris

  4. I dont think its a female thing Tony, I think its an age related thing as I thought it was men of a certain age who did that, they also do the same thing at the check out having stood and watched the checkout person bleep it all through, they the precede to pack it all then look for the purse! I am treading on dodgy ground here by dissing elderly people, I have the upmost respect for the older generation and hope I havent upset anyone!!!!:kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss:

Depends what you mean by men of a certain age :nut:
