Hello sweetie
Floosie and I will, of course, be there again this year. Probably bring the Guzzi along this year, as it definitely didn't get enough use last year.

...and this is how military vehicles are born. ;-)

Fascinating stuff

What a fantastic sight - It's just mesmerising...........
You said it!

Errrrrrr, now I know they had some very advanced systems (and a lot of horses too) but I'd draw the line at time travel to obtain a 60's vehicle. :? :-D
Another section in the "Living History" area had a Unimog in amongst the WWII Germans. I suppose they think the vast majority of public won't know any different 8-)

:schocked:
Yeah, that's what I was going to say...

JUST trying to Post picture Tony
Yep, that worked ;-)

I was at school at the time of the conflict and can remember watching it all on the news
Me too - I remember getting told off for writing "The Falklands are British" (or something along those lines) on the covers of my exercise books.
TEMPUS FUGIT eh?

Michel Clements always has a few wartime Harleys in various states of re-build in his workshop. He's based in Elst, just outside Arnhem. I'm pretty sure he's on the web (and he speaks excellent English too ;-) )

I must get to Norway some day :-) sounds like a fantastic place.
Our next planned trip is Odessa :nut:

Bomber command took the war back to the agressors, when no other service was able to stirke, and showed the world Great Britain was still fighting back against evil.
Well said!

Cool.
Is it snowing where you are?

If you were to say vehicles over 25 years old are classic/historic then pretty much all of the armour currently in service with the British Army is classic/historic. The 432s were built in the 60s, CVRTs in the 70's and even the Warriors from the 80's are getting close now.

Ha ha, yes. There was a Dakota flying low over Colchester last week. We were all wondering if it was the MOD's latest purchase ~ a replacement for the Hercules ;-)

and my own reserved pitch at War and Peace with my own personal toilet, shower and stand pipe!
Now you really are talking nonsense ;-)

Hello Nige! and Hello Poj! ;-)

Welcome to the forum chap. Another Essex boy, eh? ;-)

Aw, I'd only get glue all over the carpet again...

Yes indeed. During the early stages of WW2 Britain was very much on the back foot. The only method we had of striking back was Bomber Command. They did an amazing job. Their courage and sacrifice is beyond question.
I recommend you all read Mark Connelly's book, "Reaching For The Stars: A New History Of Bomber Command In World War II" ~ ISBN 1-86064-591-7. A well written, thoroughly researched read.

Wouldn't it be something like Iltisen? :dunno:

and don't get too much sun.
Not sure where you are my friend, but it's absolutely p***ing it down here in Britain's oldest town :-)

But if you are in The Netherlands, the lead vehicle has two blue flags (one each side of cab) the rest of the convoy each has a blue flag except the last one which carries a green flag.
Heidi has a blue filter that fixes over the right-hand (kerbside) headlight for convoy driving. The last vehicle in a convoy would have a green'un. There is also a set of flags (blue, green & yellow) which fix to the bumper but I dont know when these are used instead of/aswell as the filters.
Anyone?
-
Yeah: good pics - and nice to have a little bit of personal history to go with 'em :-)
