  1. I will get some pics this week end.
  2. Hi people,i have a white painted jerry can that has been galvanised and the seams soldered. The markings on it are G on the top of the sides for gasoline i presume,No date stamped any where, and a circle on the bottom with some symbals in it that i cant read. It has a srew type oppening with the wire and chain as usual(although chain is missing) for retaining the cap. There is no rubber seal under the cap,and doesnt look like there has been one. The inside of the can has some surface rust on it,but not bad. The white paint is quite a cream colour with no external painted markings. I very nearly threw it out as it looked at first glance to be just a rusty jerry can that had seen better days and was of no use to anyone, but i noticed the galv coating and the white paint with no drab underneath, first impression was a water can?,but i dont know. There is a brass plug about 4" up from the bottom on one end, perhaps for a tap??. Has anyone else come across this on a jerry can? Ken Hughes NZ
  3. Ahh!,God The Queen and the Empire,a fast fading memory now though. Most enjoyable film, reminds me of my naval training days and being on excersise.
  4. Hi again people, its been a while since i was here last and i forgot my details,so had to re register,no problem, good to be back. Some of you may have seen me on the Canadian site Maple Leaf Up,another great site. I have an F30 CMP of 1942 vintage (GS) that is almost on the road after 15 yrs being rebuilt on a low budget. I am from New Zealand,a panel beater/industrial painter and an old fart!!haha. I seem to also collect NZ army radios, being ZC1 mk1 and mk2,i have 2 fully operational and one for display. My other interest is making armour from the dark ages, although i am purley a novice in this field. Well thats my intro thanks people.Ken Hughes
  5. Hi guys,I am in two minds about this. Its really great for someone KIA/MIA to be found and given a proper burial . But what are we leaving for the future generations, when these battlefields have been gone over,we now have DNA where as say 20yrs ago we didnt, what technology will we have in another 20 yrs that could tell us about these past events in history?. I really enjoy seeing pictures from people digging up the past and what is found at the site, but dont like the stuff being sold for profit. it is both desecration and education.
  6. Thanks guys, it is good to be back, thank you.
  7. Hi people,Ive made it back here after some hick -up or other, just give me a computer with a crank handle and valves and ill be alright. I have a 1942 CMP Ford f30,which are English design, im told, just about ready for the road. I do enjoy other military vehicles as well, here in New Zealand we have a good cross section of them from around the world. When i figure out how to post some photos, i will. cheers all ken hughes.
  8. well thanks guys, my truck is not a nut and bolt up restoration If i did that i would never get it back together!! but ive done everything that needed doing to get it ready for the road, and including putting all the right parts back on it.
