1. Hi Folks, Thought you might like to see my recent conversion of the Airfix Tank Transporter tractor into the R100 with a Skytrex (Hinchcliffe) 7.2" Howitzwer. It features a full interior with all 12 seating positions, an 8 round ammunition rack with 2 ready rounds and an overhead gantry with chain hoist for lifting the trails and ammunition. It also has the older style horizontal drum winch hidden under the body. It is depicted as newly landed in Algeria for Operation Torch in 1942. Hope you like it. Cheers, Neil
2. Thanks folks for the kind comments. It was a fun build. If anyone is interested, I blogged the build progress on the Airfix Tribute Forum: http://airfixtributeforum.myfastforum.org/about22248.html and my next (Scammell R100 and 7.2" Howitzer) is also on the forum but awaiting paint at the moment http://airfixtributeforum.myfastforum.org/about25187.html Thanks again for your interest and comments. Cheers, Neil
3. Wonderful work!....I particularly like the Antar, the "Pride and Joy". Neil
4. Hi Folks, Here is my scratchbuilt 1/76 scale Albion with Milicast's 3.7" HAA Gun. The model was inspired by forum member Ackack's excellent restoration of "Isabelle" and was completed with much advice and photos from another member, Davie Reid who is currently restoring his own CX22S. I hope you enjoy it. Cheers, Neil
5. Thanks for the compliment but, yes they are "braille" scale as we call it. The MAZ has a detailed engine as well. The Albion has since undergone a bit of surgury as the vents on the bonnet sides were cut wrong and the mudguards are a bit large in the radius. All has or is under reconstruction and pics will be posted later. Cheers, Neil
6. Hi Folks, Here is a couple of progress photos of my 1:76 Albion CX22S HAT. A bit more progress has been made since these were taken as the front is pretty well complete except for the bonnet top. Also a winch cable guide has been added just in front of the rearmost set of rollers. For you chaps used to 1:1 scale, this is roughly 4" long and doesn't take up much room in my "garage". Special thanks to "Davie" who has provide much valuable information over the last few days. Cheers, Neil PS I also included a 1:72 scale Russian MAZ-537 Tractor also scratchbuilt except for the tires.
7. Hi Davie, Thanks so much for the engine pics and the engine compartment information. Everything seems to be on the left side of the engine which is pretty much the detail I have modelled. Any pics would be helpful. The cab interior is going to be difficult as to date, I haven't been able to find any interior pics. Anyway, I'm almost to the point where I'll take some progress pictures and share them with you. Thanks again for your valued assistance. Cheers, Neil
8. This is directed to the lucky folks who own a real Albion CX22S HAT. I am currenly scratchbuilding this vehicle in 1/76 scale and have built the engine with most of the left side detail as the web provided a great photo of the left side. My question is, was it normal to open the top of the bonnet on one side for checking oil, servicing etc. (as it appears to be hinged down the middle). If so, I will model it open but if it is one piece, I will leave the left side panel off. I was sure I saw a picture on the web with one side open but have not been able to locate it again. Thanks in advance for any response. Cheers, Neil
9. Thanks all, for the warm welcome. I have a couple of pics of the MAZ but I'll take some better ones and post them. As far as the Albion, it's just a chassis, engine, firewall and the cab floor at present. As write this, I'm waiting for glue to dry on the fuel tank. I will take some progress photos shortly and post them also. Cheers all, Neil
10. Hi Folks, I'm Neil Craig from Wyevale, Ontario, Canada born in Crayford, Kent, England nearly 70 years ago. My main interest is modelling military vehicles (mainly trucks and softskins) from Germany, Russia, Great Britain and Canada. I work mainly in 1/76 and 1/72 scale and do kits, conversions and scratchbuilts. My last scratchbuilt was a 1/72 Russian MAZ-537 Tractor and I'm currently working on an Albion CX22S HAT in 1/76 scale. I find sources such as HMVF an invaluable source of information for research purposes and look forward to viewing and possible posting on this site in the future. Cheers, Neil
