Thank you for the help. I've been using http://www.warmuseums.nl and google to narrow down the museum list.
At the moment I'm thinking of visiting these museums.
Musee Omaha 6 juin 1944 - Saint Laurent sur Mer http://www.musee-memorial-omaha.com
Airborne Museum – Sainte Mere Eglise http://www.airborne-museum.org
Musee du Debarquement – Sainte-marie-du-Mont http://www.utah-beach.com
Musee du Debarquement – Arromanches http://www.normandy1944.com'>http://www.normandy1944.com'>http://www.normandy1944.com
Musee de la Bataille de Normandie – Bayeux http://www.normandiememoire.com
Le grand Bunker Muse de Mur de l’Atlantique – Ouistreham http://www.musee-grand-bunker.com
Memorial Pegasus – Ranville-Benouville http://www.normandy1944.com
Any suggestion on other museums/ places we ought to visit? Should we leave out any of the above?

This august I'll be taking my father to Normady as a birthday present. He was born just a few days after the invasion started and has always been intrestes in war history. I think we'll spend about 4-5 days driving around in the area, but there are so many things to see! :-)
Of course we'll have to visit the beaches, but what are the better museums in the area?
I've been looking thru older threads, but find it hard to narrow down to the top 3 museums.
We'll be going in early august, rather than queing up with th crowd in june!
Any advice anyone?

Next summer I've decided to have a closer look at Finlands military history. I'll rent a car a spend a few days looking around.
From my research so far I've found these museums:
The tank museum at Parola
The Aviation Museum of Central Finland
Finnish Aviation Museum at Helsinki airport
The Artillery Museum of Finland at Hämeenlinna
The military museum in Helsinki
Suomenlinna Sea Fortress in Helsinki
Does anyone know of anything else intresting that I have to check out?

Marty, I think you will find the F-35 is some sort of mock-up / prototype. Early in the program they had at least one which they took to air shows etc.
Thanks for the pics, really great collection of superbly restored aircraft. Like the Lockheed Lodestar!
No way! This is the real thing! The royal norwegian airforce is leading the way. We're already doing 6th generation fighters. :-)

Revisited again...
I was very disturbed to find this already in a museum, especially when the airforce haven't received it yet. But that's tecnology!
A few new shots of some of the collection.

In 2012 the museum turned 10 years old. I visited it for a third time and saw that even more had been added since last visit. This is a museum where there's something new every time. And they are still working on the exhibits.
As I perhaps mentioned before, it's allowed to touch the exhibits and objects. :-)

Thanks for good advice everyone. I didn't find time to visit the flak towers, that is something for some other time. I did however manage to go to the museum.

The HGM in Vienna is one of the more intresting museums I've been to. It's located in a large beautiful building with lots of space between the displays inside. It covers early times until after ww2, with a few tanks and planes from more modern periode.
The Highlight being the car that Franz Ferdinand sat in when he was shot, which started ww1. Also among the goodies are a SU-100 tank and a Fiesler Storch. The tank collection outside is the least impressing, but only due to lack of space I would think. A fence placed close to the vehicles crammed into the small courtyard ruins the nice collection. And ruins the opportunity to take nice pictures.
I highly recommend a visit to the museums that shows the rich military history of Austria.

Hi everyone! thank you for good advice.
The arsenal seems to be the easiest ad most important to visit. The Flak towers is a must see! Is it possible to enter them? Who would I have to talk to? The militarmuseum Rosenberg also looks really intresting. ow far from Vienna?
Well, they all look intresting!
Again, thanks!

I've been able to locate militarymueum.at at the net, but I havn't found out where in Austria it's located! I understand it's a private collection owned by a Robert Gill. Anyway I'm spending a few days in Austria and thought I'd try to stop by there. Anyone?

I want to visit the German costal fortifications in Norway, last I heard they were in working order.
List of fortifications in Norway. Among these several German costal fortifications.

I haven't been to them myself, so that's something to do over the next years.

Some of them are in good hands and with cannons. Other only bunkers remain.
Will try to post more information later Tony.
