  5. Does anyone know where I may be able to buy a lightweight breathable indoor fabric cover to fit a Bedford Mj. This would be to cover the whole of the vehicle inc.the cargo body.thanks.
  6. Thanks to you all for your advice on this,I have had to submit to the council a short letter stating that I will arrive and depart the venue before and after opening hours, with Hazards on etc, will put signs on vehicle Do not climb etc. cant really do much more than that. Shame the local council just want to cover their backs and pass on any problems.:-(
  7. Thanks Andy, will download the form, think the main thing will be to place. Warning for Your own Safety Do Not Climb on this Vehicle.. Cant think of much else apart from not going,as e :undecided:Council just trying to cover their backs on this one.
  8. Blackpool Council Armed Forces Day. The local council have asked me to provide a risk assessment Form for my vehicle, does anyone know what this is ?
  9. Hi Stu, thanks for your call and getting right back to me,looking forward to a good event. Any RL owners out there ? Darren.
  10. Hi Stu, Looking like a very good show. I have sent my booking form in with an sae enclosed. Havent received a pass as of yet,I take it you will be sending them all out at a later date perhaps? Thanks Darren...
  11. Hi Stu, Have now filled in form, thanks for the info. Darren.
  12. Would like to bring a 1984 Bedford Mj,but can only make to arrive late Saturday evening or Sunday Morning, would this be ok.As looks like a very good event.:-)
  13. I have a MJ Wheel with the Split re attaining ring, with both ends meeting, without the required gap. I do understand that this could mean that the ring will not be holding properly. Has anyone come across this before, does it mean that the ring requires replacing or just scaled up with rust and not fitting correctly. I don't want to mess with this without a safety cage. Not sure if the ring or wheel may need replacing . The wheel is on the vehicle and holding 45 psi.
  14. Took the MJ for test with full fuel tank and loaded with just over 1 Ton on the back and passed the test. All ok :cheesy:
  15. Hi Mark, Some brill photos, have been to the Lincs.aviation centre a couple of times last year and spoke to one of the two brothers, he told me that they were out bid at Blackpool but later bought the Lancaster when it had been used as a gate guardian. They also plan to get it flying again. Darren..
  16. Thanks for all of you replies the first time I have used this forum to this effect. I will now go with 3 tonne rear load bed hopefully this will be ok. really good of you all to take the time to reply.:-\
  17. Thanks for that, interesting to know that the rolling road also checks axle weight,so perhaps better to be over the 65 percent than under weight. still think that the rear axle plated weight should have been altered when springs cut etc. Will try and speak to someone at VOSA today !
  18. Thanks but VOSA will now only do rolling road brake tests now..
  19. Thanks fellas but new vosa plate cert.still showing 5 ton rear axle load and I think to put around 3 ton on is just going to be too much for the Springs I will contact vosa to see if I can get the spec.altered on plating cert.
  20. Bedford Mj due for test next month. Local vosa station now closed, new independent ATF does not have a hydraulic jacking/load beam,so with now have to take truck with approx.3 ton load on board for load sensing valve brake test.(65 percent of 5.5 axle rating) The problem is that the MJ is down rated to 7.5 Ton (Rear springs cut)so not sure if suspension will take the weight, not to mention headlight beam check with front end up. Any ideas anyone ?
  21. Looks like a good event, will take the MJ along, not sure if they still have any in service now. see you there.
  22. I have been contacted by a film company lookin for a Bedford RL troop carrier to be used on location in Bolton for two or three days this comming week.Making a period drama about the Great Train Robbery.Using the East Lancs.Steam Railway.Anyone that may have a RL please contact me.I understand that all the vehicles that the gang used came from Ruddinton at that time.
