  1. The V5 may help? Bob Grundy had the V5 for mine, together with some other paperwork that allowed me to trace every civilian owner. Can't remember if I'm the fifth or sixth, it belonged to the North London Barmy Army at one stage!

    Andy

There are pictures about of it on its side on the off road course at Beltring:shocked:

  2. Insure with footman James on the chassis number Appox £85-£100, then you need to sort out how you are registering it. Camper/motorhome will get you round under run etc decide on weight under or over 7.5 tonne HGV or not! If under 7.5 tonne get a class 7 or is it heavy class 4 not sure?? MOT at a VOSA place if over 7.5. Take all the paper work to the DVLA office and you should have all back with paper plates(you will have to get them made) Drive away.

  3. Lucky man when the rope went you see the rear beam of the trailer hanging off if that had of gone through his screen it would have been over. Not sure why they were letting stuff drive through the hole couldnt the cat have pulled the truck and trailer onto its wheels?

  4. They do have a Mobat not sure on number etc. but saw it when I used to help out there.

I went there some years ago and it was a really good museum.

They made quite a lot of their Challenger being used in a Dr Who episode (they weren't sure which one!) - sadly, they didn't take into account the 'Dr Who Meister' that is my step daughter - not a clue about MVs (then!) but there's not much she doesn't know about Dr Who - Priceless!

The museum website says they've got a MOBAT - can anyone confirm this? Date, Carriage and Breach numbers would be nice too!

  5. Agreed most things are only as strong as the weakesy point!

I could still with some of the clamps if anyone has them.

That 3-way methodology proliferates much further than the army, Larry; but yes, some people's idea of engineering is quite scary! What's even scarier is that sometimes it holds together!

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with ratchet straps. They're not ideal but they'll do the job fine in most cases, as long as nothing dreadful happens to the vehicle. In emergency or accident conditions though, that nice secure 2ton load can effectively quadruple in weight & tear through a strap like it wasn't there. Hopefully no-one here will need to find out the hard way but better safe than sorry, eh?!

  6. Its a drone repair body. They are made out of an alloy and insulation sandwich. Withams had a few in the last tender(i hot mine alot cheaper than those)I think it had a total of 8 ratchet straps holding it on then it was given a good dollop of light stone on top. They are the later type fitted to the LD 4 tonners. I have the same plans for it as you have a military camper. It will make the shows more comfortable.
