  1. Hi Maurice If you could that would be great, thanks Smudge
  2. Hi all Does anyone have a decent colour picture of a No37 Safety Clip for the 17Pdr cartridge? In anticipation, thanks Smudge
  3. Hi Rob I'm watching your build with great interest. Kudos to you mate a great job. I look forward to seeing more pictures; do you have any period/in action ones? Cheers Smudge PS; I used to spend a lot of time at Catterick shame I still don't :cool2:
  4. Hi guys Can anyone tell me the differences between the British/Canadian 6 pdr gun and US M1 57mm AT-Gun ? Anybody got any never seen before ( I.E. not from Wikipedia) in action photos? Cheers Martyn
  5. Hi all Does anyone have any photos of the Hellesen lamp as fitted to many British AFV's c. WW2. I also need dimensions thanks. Cheers Martyn
  6. Thanks guys for all the responces its been a great help Cheers Martyn
  7. Hi fellas Thats great thanks. I've heard another reason the wheel isn't fitted to the bonnet is that squaddies tend to drop the bonnet and the wheel ends up trashing the fibreglass...or is that a falacy? Is it right the RWMIK is also built on redundant Snatch chassis? Cheers Smudge
  8. Hi guys I'm trying to get my head around the WMIK so I hope you can help with some the more technical side of it...I know theres the WMIK, E-WMIK and now the R-WMIK but when did each come into service/replace the other(s)? I also have a basic idea but what are differances exactly? Also; did the very early ones (say Sierra Leone/Macedonia) carry the spare on the bonnet like the Wolf or has it always been on the side? I'm sure I saw a photo from Sierra Leone with one on the bonnet? Cheers Martyn
  9. Hi all What was the standard rangefinder of the RA..and AT in particular. Was this the Barr and Stroud streoscopic rangefinder? Anyone got any photos? Cheers Smudge
  10. Hi Chris Thanks again a great answer and full on useful info; Photos would be great being a result of the Barnsley education system I find pictures are better than words LOL. I think I've found a picture of the Laport adapter...is this it? Martyn
  11. Hi all Thanks for the info; Chris you were invaluable and very interesting. I do have oen last question...i read on Royal Sigs that the 19 needed verticle aerials '12ft or twin 8ft'...how does that work having determined that the No9 base won't take another 8 footer? Ta Martyn
  12. Hi guys As anybody got the dimensions of 2 and 4 gal POL cans or one that you can measure pls? Thanks Smudge
  13. Hi guys The antenna on the number 19's "B" set aerial was 20 inches long and fitted to a No. 9 Ariel Base. Questions... 1. The B set ariel was 20'', but i'm sure I've seen longer than that fitted was that possible? Looks to be about 1/2'' diameter is that right? 2. The B set ariel was a straight rod (no taper) at 20'' but was there a 8'' B set ariel? Were other sets ariels compatible and if so which? 3. I've seen a pair for sale on the net calling them 'F' and 'G' type ariels is that right? 4. The No. 9 Ariel Base; was it specific to the #19 set or a general fitting? Ta Smudge
  14. Steve >The personel armament of the SPG was a Bren and a 2inch mortar- there seems to be no specific stowage for Stens although they must have been stowed somewhere or guard duty would be impossible!< Any idea where the Bren and 2'' were stowed? Was the Bren for local defence or mounted and if so where? I believe the two Stens were stored to the left of the driver's seat, on the inside of the front left armour behind the ammo bins Smudge
  15. Hi guys I know they were used by the British and Canadians in NWE and a few in Italy by the Polish but do we have any idea of who used them in what numbers? Ta Martyn
  16. JCH [not sure if the Archer (which was not the official name) was built on old hulls or were all new builds, I suspect the latter]...new builds with so may redundant hulls available? or were they? [The Bronco kit uses the MiniArt hull and suspension, and there are reports of an issue with the MiniArt wheels, Accurate Armour do a couple different styles in resin.]...I've heard about the wheels and AA say the Archer had a 'late special dish pattern made especially for the Archer' Maybe an error using MiniArts Valentine hull without changing the wheels? Whats the story with the .30 cal I thought the secondary wpn was a Bren although I did read somewhere else a BESA? Thanks for the info Martyn
  17. Hi John Do you know if the Archer was based on new build or redundant Valentines? If the latter I've heard that there were several styles/sizes of the bogey wheels you any info on that score? May explain the feeling that the wheels are too small Pics of the wheels would be good...various types? You any photos of the engine compartment seeing as I've just found theres no engine in the kit? Ta Martyn
  18. Hi guys Thanks for the responce; my interest is a new Archer kit thats come out with full interior, engine etc...wanted to check the accuracy. Barbarossa books do a couple of cheap publications on the interior/exterior of the Valentine (£3 each) so I may get those. I'd like to know what the conversion entailed; simply remove the turret and a chunk of the hull and stick a 17pdr on backwards or more thought involved than that? Why operated by RA...was that the norm for all SPG's? Will download the Shaddock list later thanks I didn't find that with my search. I've heard that the kits wheels are too small but if the 665 vehicles that were built were on a mix of old chassis was there a potential for a variety of wheel types...anybody got any data on Valentine wheels...sizes...pics etc? Adrian; how do i get in touch with John P and how much info is in the manuals you have...too much to scan I bet ( being cheeky and all)? Martyn
  19. Hi guys Is there an expert on the Archer out there, ot maybe a Valentine fan who knows their stuff? Apart from the usual Wiki page a few sites with minimal tech data theres very little about I anticipation, thanks Martyn
  20. Hi Thanks thats a great shot. I have interior photos so I can relate to the removable 'hump' Ta again Martyn
  21. Hi fellas How do you access the engine on a Bedford QL...does the cab tilt forward? anybody got any photos of the cab in this postion if so? In anticipation thanks
  22. 'to be issued with a HIB or SUH in its stead, which they retained permanently' Hi 'Alien'. I should know and when you post the answer will kick myself but what is HIB/SUH please? Grey matter's not what it was Ta Smudge
  23. Thanks for all those who replied. The old style helmet I've found out was made by HMAK, I think an HT-9 model. HMAK was actually the Danish Army Materiel Command (Hærens Materielkommando). They probably supplied us with it. I know it was used 1982 in the Falklands using reference photos, nothing after that until the 'new' style surfaces in photos in 1991 ( Op Desert Sabre/Granby), although these look slightly differant due to the headsets ( Clansman as opposed to my pic of a Bowman headset). The dates for the 'new' helmet is consistant with answers oon another forum which said about 20 years. Thanks chaps Martyn
