Welcome Baz not sure if you know but you have the great privilage of being our 100th member, I can feel a celebration coming on......now where did I put that cup of tea
Welcome aboard!
-
I have written four times and signed one petition.
-
I have a thing about jerry cans........just had my first US can delivered today, there is something magical about them, they have a story to tell.
-
I have found it strange that I can own a 5 ton GMC and not to have any one from the Ministry to look over it. Think about it, you have a 60 year + vehicle and no one cares about how well maintained the brakes are, where is the cut of point of a good truck and a rotten one?
-
But do you start ok first thing in the mornings..........
-
Honesty time, what have you done to fight this bill?
-
So where can I buy the paint from.............when I have made up my mind? Or has anyone got gallons of the stuff in their garage?
-
Do you think that he could put it up on Ebay Sean
-
Yes, but I'm mot exempt. Although I probably shouldn't be the amount of screws I've got loose :!:
lmfao
-
Blimey Sean I bet he was panicking when he put the last bid on and then there is that awful silence when no one else raise's their arms
Will he be displaying it?
-
well that has certainly given me something to think about, so have to ask the question, if MV owners where period dress are then re-enactors and if re-enactors drive MV are they then MV owners and not re-enactors?
Or are we all re-enactors seeing as we are all displaying something from a certain time and place?

OK here are some pictures of Aldbourne and Ramsbury. I would imagine that most of us know about Aldbourne but those of you who don't, it was were the 101st Airborne (Band of Brothers fame) were billited. Really is amazing place.
Were sat outside the Blue Boar Pub (the pub were the troopers used to drink) having a nice pint and then two jeeps ride by, all kitted out and looking lovely. Grab them and got talking and as if by magic it was Tim and his brother in law and family  8) 8) Tim being a member of HMVF.......see pics below.
The family and I also visted Littlecote House which was the headquarters of 506 PIR. The Americans must of been amazed by this historical house.............
Littlecote House main entrance, how many jeeps would of been parked out side of here
1st regiment of the Beckettshires standing in the main doorway
Littlecote
There is a good picture in many books of officers of the 101st sitting where we are standing
A small and the only bit about the 101st that I could find
Aldbourne green
HMVF card pinned outside Dick Winters billet
Not sure if this is the only piece of the Ramsbury airfield left but it looks wide enough to be the main runway, this where the 101st and I believe the 82nd left from for Market Garden
Tim, Neil and their families and mine............nice Jeeps!
Inside the Blue Boar
Ramsburys bench
More from the 1st regiment of the Beckettshires on tour next week
My thanks go to the official tour photographer........Anne Beckett

People look upon MV owners and re-enactors as separate entities, but are we? Surely we drive and display vehicles to recreate and to educate the same as re-enactors do in their respective fields and use MV's as part of their displays.
So would it be fair to say the MV's owners are re-enactors?

made Prince Charles laugh, made the hurdles that went around the lake where Diana was buried, write for the Shooting Times.......
-
Think you are right Berni, I think it is a problem that the hosting company is having.
-
Cola cubes , wow they were great, used to damage the roof of your mouth
lmfao! to right and they still do..........bought some the other day from an fashioned sweet shop in Lymington, and they haven't changed, they still make the top of your mouth sore :?
-
I gave Bruce Forsythe and Cola Cube when I was a lad
-
Good work Richard, thanks!
So for clarification, I passed my driving test in 1985 and I have my bike test, so I can drive upto a 8 ton truck as long as it was made pre 1960?
Cheers
Jack.

Strange place, that Aldbourne.

Tim they're either filming more 'Doctor Who' and Jacks got a bit part or he's off to catch the atmosphere of the 101 Airborne Division, who stayed there prior to D-Day.
No event on that I know of.
