  1. We are mostly no3 type of people.

Work hard to deliver a running vehicle to show, explain the adaptions to passers by and let children and older children to age of 65 sit in them and share a beer or at dinner time some food.

Arena runs are what my wife enjoys as she can speak in public.

  2. We have the electronic servo type with the box with push buttons that rattles itself to bits every year, cables that get faulty as it is a thin gauge and the engine vibrates a bit.

I have a spare 300tdi with bent crankshaft and a autobox that went bang six years ago. Clutches are fine and it pumps oil around but no drive comes to the propshaft.

As for the nato hitch, they can get a Dixon bate with certifI cation plate and make it work. The sankey got both a nato and 7 pin plug.

  3. Many can remember the semi automatic clutch system m wife had installed in her 109 Series 3 land rover.

After the destruction of two LT76 gearboxes and a bodged one we run on that lacks a reverse, the selector box electrics packed up. A rough two weeks made us decide to quit, the plan is to accept failure and get a motability car so we can get the 109 in bits, clean and repair the chassis and build a 300tdi with zf4 hp22 autobox for a better ride and less hassle with the recalibration of the computers every time a engine or gearbox get changed. A rewire is needed too as 32 years of use gets some issues.

Enough is enough, we cannot continue this way. Now, does a Skoda Yeti come with a nato hitch option?

  4. More pictures please. I love this project you found. :)

If you use parts of the civilian land rover... parts might come up later to rebuild the donor vehicle! In a few years when we plan to move to Canada we plan to haul a container load with spares. Engines, axles, gearboxes and boxes of all sorts

  5. I have a building background, a C licence (Dutch), started a welding education and have a get it done attitude.

My back injury is controlled by medication and if I do get the job you have a loyal employee that does the extra mile.

The Dutch benefits agency even helps with grants to get me working. If there is a tent or room I can sleep in I can work the hours needed and go by train back to my wife.

  6. https://steveconway.wordpress.com/in-print/the-book/seagull/the-jenni-baynton-at-sea/ I can see some options with three 1KW medium wave antennas and even a inverted V shortwave antenna :) .. but OK, I got offered one for sale six years ago that needed a new wood deck on the inside for £50K with a house boat mooring. Things are only worth the money that a buyer is prepared to fork out for it.
  7. The orange screw in oil filler on rocker cover started long before 5mb engines , standard civvy. spec. from abt. 1978 ,, the only certain way is the reinforced block casting or check the engine Ser. No.

Indeed, we had a 3mb unit with the military oil filler on the timing cover with the civvi oil filler pipe to fill up a missing plate and the later rocker cover as it was the only one left that I had. Bolt on bits don't mean anything to date or give a conclusion on main bearings or age, ribs and engine numbers do.

  8. my google search came up with "the aa covers your tank" but it was about mis fueling.

however, i did email my contact at the AA and asked him if a vehicle like a FV432 or sherman battle tank be covered for home start and recovery at the roadside by lorry.

i will reply again when i know more.

    cheers,

    Arjan

  9. Oh no sad to hear that, sometimes something so simple can cause so much trouble. What career did you have to end in such a quick way.

I like the sound of easy life :D.

I was a restoration bricklayer, my easy life was being able to lift 125kg from the floor. That helped with my land rover hobby, same as being able to spend £5000 in a weekend buying parts, land rovers and trailers to bring home.

Right now we scrape to get by and my re education should bring me a decent income. I plan to get my welding degree and then make a living doing welding jobs on vehicles like crossmembers and bigger jobs like custom fuel tanks etc. If I can live from it, it is fine.
