  1. Preparing for a winter re-enactment/walk in the Ardennes.

    We'll probably sleep outside...

No tents, only original WW2 sleeping bags or blankets and greatcoats.

    Your mad!.........................

  2. No one likes paying but if Rex has set a charge for attending the show I don't think he will suddenly scrap it, as said before those that don't want to pay have another option. I suggest anyone else who does not like the way Rex administers the show to contact him directly with your concerns, there's little point in winding each other up on here.

Your right lee, and I will say no more on the subject.................................promise!:D

  3. Pauls right Rambo - just have a look at the big vehicles that go. And take an even closer look at the WWII guys - those things cost a fortune to do anything with. No big deal if you have more modern stuff like the 000's of Landies that attend. There are so many hidden costs in these things - wives being amongst that hidden cost....

    Agree with that 100% jack.

Do you think it's fair that if a group put in that much dedication, time and money that they are then charged to take thier mv's ?

I would imagine there are a few support vehciles to help with a set up like that, and yet support vehciles are charged as well.

  4. Ive been browsing through the 'for sale' section and see your selling alot of kit.

Something you want to tell us?

Are you thinking of leaving us and becomming a male stripper!..............:nut::D

Or just having a clear out.

  5. I'm with you on this. Really annoys me that groups spend a lot of effort on a display and on the next display is a civvy car or tent "hidden" under a cam net...

    +1.

Would be nice to see civvy tents in one area.

I remember 1 year talking to lee(marmite) in the americas field, there was an escort estate with 'UN' painted on the doors with a civvie tent!

Maybe areas for certain era's of mv's? I know this may be hard if a group has different vehciles.

Would also be nice to see more police/security presence.

  6. I think with the energy of Rex and team this will be a good move, I am sure it will have its teething issues but having a single point of responsibility os a good thing.

We will be supporting as both MV owners and a Living History group as there isn't another show where we could do the display we put on, it costs us about £1,500 per year to put on the display not including fuel costs so want the maximum amount of time to enjoy the experience.

    £1500!!! thats dedication!!

Do you have to pay entry for your mv's?

  7. Just to stir things up a bit......................................

Been looking at what shows to do next year.

I have decieded that any show that charges mv owners, but not re enactors, I will not be going to.

I cannot for the life of me understand why, we, as mv owners have to pay to get in any show when re enactors don't.

After all, alot of re enactors go to shows in thier cars and we take our mv's which cost more in fuel. Plus we have the standing costs all year round of our vehciles, tax, mot, fuel and maintainence.

I can sort of understand paying a small fee(£5) if the show is a club event and everybody pays, in order to fund the show.

    Your thoughts?

  8. compulsory camouflaged advertising. could you explain??

As we have explained numerous times, the advertising supports the forum. At the moment is it just the same few members donating to the forum all the time that help with the running costs.. we really appreciate these donations.

There is a donate button at the top of the forum home page that any member can use to support the forum..

The adverts help pay for the forum & are here to stay until Jack or Joris decide differently..

    Hear hear!
