  1. Translation - I am solving a problem - I managed to lose the oil tank cap on a Triumph 3 HW - although the sellers say it is the same as the fuel tank, it is not true - the petrol tank cap is larger - thread 4.4 cm, the diameter of the cap (thread) of the oil tank will be approx. 4.1 mm. Can you advise me where to get it: thank you

  2. At the risk of being got off the target, which of course we have been, you say you were 1/4 mile away from this Vulcan - so far away you could not actually count the number of men involved in the actions around it, yet you could clearly make out a five foot spherical object with coloured cables and pipework attached to it being unloaded partially behind a screen?  Hmmm.  That is not including the fact(?) that no Vulcan Squadrons were operating from there to the best of my limited research.  I am not familiar with Farnborough so cannot comment on the actual distance from your tree line to the 'research centre' so I would be interested to hear any comments from anyone other than Andy on the quoted distance.

Re. Milton. I never said there were no tanks there, I said it wasn't an AVSD. Two totally different things. Milton may well have held American tanks, but that's not the issue.

I've checked with guys on the RAOC Vehicle Specialist forum. They confirmed that Milton was never either a Vehicle Depot or an AVSD. It was never even an RAOC depot. No depot , no tanks, no test runs on the road and certainly no 360 spins.

So i can agree with Paul, no tanks!

I totally agree with you and Paul with your posted arguements, but to give Andy a tiny bit of credibility I have to say that the 'crap' photo he provided of Milton(?) does appear to have two transporters and at least two tanks.  I make no claim that my i.d. of them is definite but they do look along the right lines. This may perhaps call in to question the results you drew from the guys on the RAOC forum.  It could be that for some reason there were some tanks there at the time this photo was taken, irrespective of it being an RAOC Vehicle Depot?

  4. Name and shame mate!  It might be a case of last resort but it will help others avoid the particular individual.   If he is a member of this forum then he has the opportunity to come forward and defend his work.  If he isn't, then the loss of future work through this forum might eventually get back to him?

  5. Even if the film was mis-dated by a few years, the 'Land Rover' looks to be in a relatively sorry state - lacking a windscreen wiper, tucked in behind some old hoops etc, a sheet of metal or wood above the cab area, I can't believe such a new expensive ( for Germany) vehicle would have been allowed to get in to such a state so quickly.

  6. Or more to the point, the lack of it.  Not by choice, but I did a ten mile run up the motorway the other day.  When I came off I had to stop, as I had a traffic light against me, and I noticed the oil pressure drop down to zero, or maybe +5.  I revved the engine to see if it recovered any and it did, a bit.  When I got moving again it went back up to 40 (ish).

Is this something that I should get investigated or is it something to associate with old jeeps?

The engine was professionally rebuilt a couple of years ago, maybe 2000 miles?
