  1. hi steve

i'm not sure but i believe the king tiger from under the road in france is now at kevin wheatcroft's collection, well the back end is anyway and good luck to him i hope he can pull it off ,there's not alot to go at.

and yes mate i would like churchill i don't care if i have to dig it out with my bare hands it would be worth it but i'd settle for a jagdpanzer if i had too:cool2:

  2. hi fella's

just thought i'd post some pics of a 17 pdr gun sight it's a no.41 mk2s,there's something that i was hoping someone could clear up for me.Why does it just have a cross hair and no range markings ,i have the sight for a firefly which has the range markings upto 3600 yds and it's the same gun, seems strange to me but if anyone could enlighten me i'd be grateful.

  3. thanks for the clarification steve,i've read about the stug recovery before ,it was a really difficult job which involved a river being diverted and a lot of digging about in the mud,but it was worth it ,they even found some of the crews weapons as well as ammunition.

inside, the tank had suffered an internal explosion probably done by the crew to prevent it being captured there's a youtube link that makes for interesting viewing.

  4. i never worked on cet but was taught that they were designed with close cooperation with RE so i suppose you can blame them for some of the faults,i was also taught that the cooling system was badly designed and ran the wrong way ie hot water fed to the bottom of the rad and not the top ,not sure if they ever fixed it ,maybe someone could enlighten me ,it all sounds a bit negative but squaddies always moan about the kit they're issued no matter how good or bad it is.

  5. hi fella's

i came across this site last year and it's this find that rekindled my boyhood interest in afv's.It wasn't so much found as ignored by the locals since it was pushed into the stream to act as reinforcement for the road bridge when it was built in the late 40's ,personally i would have used 16mm rebar and kept the tank for myself but the poles chose to use it that way.it didn't become an issue until a few years back when someone cut the front armour off and took it to the local scrapper to be weighed in ,thankfully the police were called and the armour returned to the tank and there it still sits to the best of my knowledge.i plan on going to poland later this year to look for a sunken russian tank in a lake in northern poland ,while i'm there i'll go to the jagdpanzer and post some pics on the forum.i might even take

    my jack hammer.:cool2:

  6. will do,i'm not actually going to look for modern armour but for a ww2 russian tank sitting in a lake that i've heard about but don't tell the "jam rolls" they get touchy about that sort of thing,i'll also take a trip to the jagd panzer 4 under the road bridge so should be some goods pics to come.

    regards eddy

  7. hi fella's

how did it all go,was it a success or too much trouble to be viable ,i only ask because i'm thinking of doing something similar in poland this year, any help or info would be gratefully received.

    cheers eddy
