something that i've just started using and been very impressed with is hydrochloric acid aka brick cleaner, you can immerse the part or just cover the surface. works great but only on steel, if ally or brass then just a 30 second dip is all that's needed. good for small parts that would be damaged by more aggressive cleaning. brings up brass shell cases like new

not guilty mate some other bugger had that churchill away

the steering tillers on a 432 are really long to give you enough leverage to stop the buggar. make them as long as you can

how many people got to see it on the downs, much better to restore it and put it on display. it's also been slowly stripped of parts over the years, how much longer before there was a hull and nothing more!

all wrecks belong to and are administered by the defence training estate in warminster. they seem ok wioth the idea of selling them but they have to be offered for tender through normal mod disposals. if the wrecks are on an old range the area has to be cleared by eod first

i had stuck plates on my centurion and managed to free them off with a steam cleaner
-
there are plans afoot to remove all the hulks from mod land.

the mk1 is worth saving but just make sure you have a lot of spare time on your hands before you tackle it
-
lol the ships sails tomorrow. was not the message i wanted to hear tonight
-
you have my respect. i can stick two bits of steel together but anything electric would be unlikely to end well for me i'm glad you persevered and overcame the problems.
one more step toward the big day!

i think you'll be surprised how easy it is, the only requirement is shiny steel surfaces . if you get it clean it will solder
