  1. thanks again i dont see the licence problem myself as i used to work in the recovery industry years ago before i had class 2 and i used spec lifts in this clas with no problem

the limitation then for me was i could not use the spec lift on our slide back trucks at 7.5 tone

re the insurance i gave them the reg details and went to great length to tell them it was registered recovery and that i was nothing to do with the trade and it was for private use

  2. i am looking at buying an old tow truck its registered and taxed as a recovery vehicle so enjoys no mot and lower yearly tax.

i have looked in to insurance on a classic vehicle policy and my broker has happily quoted i have fully told them that it is a tow truck and they are totally happy to go ahead.

now they say that i can do this and also that i could use it to tow my own jeep and other vehicles to shows with it as long as i own them this would be suspended tow.

now this all sounds simple but to damn easy do i not need to change its tax group to plg ?and or get it unregistered as recovery?

i am not a trader of any kind or recovery operator..............a word or few from the wise would be of grate help

  3. Right then i used to have classic military mag on subscription but in the downturn i let it lapse as it was another expense that i needed to cut back on.

So now although things are not much better but i was missing reading about green things

i bought the currant issue and thought it was somewhat thin and the paper was of poor quality .

So which is the best mag at the moment to buy i have yet to see a pathfinder mag so am open to opinions from you guys.

  4. i think the british for some reason just likes to love a pile of crap ldv vans spring to mind and landrovers i dont wish to knock the old sheep lugger but my brother in law loves them and as a result he is a far better welder than me

he cant get over the fact that my 30 year old jeep still runs its original engine gearbox and axles and has never had the chasis welded.......he hates me for it

good luck to all evan maxi and alegro owners but then again they need all the luck they can get

  5. not far from me at hayley green there was a nissen hut used as a bungalow it was in good nick and lived in i think untill the last five years but now has been demolished for development

there was also a railway carriage house very near to hamton lode not far from the station used i think at least in to the 80s

  6. this is a super thread well done guys on finding it looking at your vids on you tube it struck me good it all looked and i could not help but wonder if this one would be a good candidate to be rust treated and preserved as it is with all the mecanicles restored to good working order

it would very nice to see a gmc that was a monument to the amazing service and work lives of these old trojans

i mean it can somtimes be dull to see jeeps that are better than new as facinating as there war time service is somtimes the peace time service can be more interesting not to mention longer

    takes coat and runs
