  1. I did a year in High School in Brookfield, Connecticut as an exchange student in the mid 80's. One of my good friends was Bill Westenhofer who has won an Oscar and a Bafta for the special effects in Golden Compass.

I once asked Kari Wuhrer out on a date but she was busy doing a play (she's now a Holywood actress)

When I was in the Danish Air Force I frequently ate lunch with Prince Joakim (well, he was in the same cafeteria)

I have had a R/C aircraft design published in Model Flyer

There was a picture of me and my daugther on the BBC News pages. We are actually sitting in the Gaz69M but you can only see one of the rear benches. It was from when we ran a business called Indoor Flyer

I have a friend in the US, Dave Burley, who used to work for NASA and built something that actually went to Mars!

I know the guy who drives the Gaz 67 in "Enemy at the gates" (he is also the owner of the Gaz).

I'm friends with the guy who invented the PicooZ toy helicopter and had to issue a written statment as an "expert in micro R/C technology" when the manufacturer were taking copy-cats to the courts.

  2. Damn, I checked on Jane's. I'm not having much luck finding a truck I can both afford and drive on my car license:cry: Although I took my license back in 1986 it is a Danish license with no entitlement to drive vehicles above 3500kg. It is currently with the DVLA and I should get a UK license in the post within a week (fingers crossed).

There is a very nice 1955 Gaz63 for sale in Poland but I is likely to get sold before I can scrape the money together for it.

  3. .. judging by a few people I have spoken to from this site quite a few Military equipment owners in the county as well...

I haven't come across any but then I haven't taken my Gaz to any shows. It would be nice to meet up with some other MV enthusiasts though.

  4. There has been discussions around Czech dealers on the Russian Military Truck forum. Expect the vehicle to be stripped of all equipment when it arrives. If it had a radio box on the back full of kit that may all be gone by the time it reaches you. Remember there may be VAT and various fees for licenses to add to the sale price. Paulob1 who posts here has some recent experience with buying trucks in Poland. He may be able to offer some advice.

  5. I'm sorry if this is an old chestnut but I tried the search facility and didn't find any info. Since I've only lived in the UK for 4 years I'm not familiar with all the rules and regulations.

My driveway is sadly too small for a truck. Can I legally park on a public road? Just around the corner from our house on a fairly wide road there is a space where it shouldn't bother anyone.

  6. Hi All,

My name is Michael and I live in Hertfordshire. I'm from Denmark but moved to the UK in 2005 after 4 years in Germany. My main interest is in Russian vehicles and I have a 1961 Gaz69M which is on the road and a Uaz469 which needs a lot of work before it will be roadworthy. I also have a couple of bikes, an Ural and a M-72 awaiting assembly.

I'm looking for a pre-1960 truck because I can drive that on my car license. I quite fancy a Simca Marmon (SUMB). There was a flurry of them on Ebay but none have appeared for the last couple of months.
