  1. I'm an IT Service Level Manager at one of the big mobile operators. Started off in IT Support many years ago. I'm self taught - no diplomas on my wall I'm afraid. For a couple of years I ran a web based business along with my day job. It was called Indoor Flyer selling micro R/C planes and accessories. Had a laser cutter for a while (for kit production) - I miss that. Closed it down when the recession started and sales dropped to 1/4 of what they used to be. A lot of wasted time and energy.........

  2. Thanks for the info. I guess I will have to wait until after Friday to see if anything turns up. I'm quite anxious to get it because there might be an article about my Gaz in it.

The website says its published on the second Friday of the month and it has issue 100 as the latest issue. "Next months issue" is still referring to the June issue so I guess website maintenance is not on their list of priorities.

  3. I only just tried one for the first time this weekend and was surprised at how uncomfortable it is to drive off-road. I'm used to a nice soft-sprung Gaz69. I think I can safely say now that I don't want one although I did consider buying one in the past.

  4. Thanks for the info. I'm used to no synchro on 1st from my Gaz.

I just got some more pictures and the old tinworm has had a good go on the cab and doors. It will require quite a bit of metal bashing and welding. I'm not sure if the seller will lower the price though.

There are a some nice ones on Ebay but sadly outside of my budget (unless someone wants to make a joint offer with me on the nice pair that is for sale)

  5. I just finished reading "Stalingrad" by Antony Beevor. Gosh, that was depressing.

I've read that and "Berlin" by the same author. Both well written books but they really do bring to the front the horrors of war. I woke from nightmares a couple of times after reading "Stalingrad" - something I normally don't experience.

  6. I'm after the somewhat elusive combination of something that is cheap and pre-1960. There was a running £700 Bedford RL on Milweb. It sold instantly (but is still listed). There is another RL but the seller does not respond. I need a runner as I already have enough "projects".

I've agreed to buy a Praga V3S but it could be a long time before I get it and the condition is unknown so no saying how much work it will need. I would like something to cut my teeth on as driving a truck will be a new thing for me. I have had my eyes on a couple of SUMB but they are not all that popular so could be difficult to sell again.

Most of what I have seen listed here recently has been fairly exotic or expensive vehicles.

  7. The Germans built a lot of fortifications along the Danish west coast. Many years ago attempts were made to blow them up but that was not a big success. Most have washed into the sea by now though.

My grandmother was working in the restaurant at Aalborg Airport when the Germans bombed it during the invasion. The airport is shared by civilian aviation authorities and the RDAF. She was so frightened that she ran all the way home - over 15 kilometers! She once had the (dis)pleasure of serving Danish pastry (ironically called Wienerbrød - Viennese Bread - in Denmark) for Goering. He was apparently quite fond of it and put away a whole plateful.

  8. I find looking for vehicles on Milweb to be a mildy frustrating experience. Sometimes the vehicles on there are still listed long after they have sold and quite often you don't get a reply when you contact seller on the email address provided (no phone number).

Other than this site or Ebay are there other places on the Internet where MV's are put up for sale?
