  1. I bet someone really clever could get it off & re-fitted in 30minutes

Time for torque wrenches at 20 paces :?

If you want to make it into a competition, you can refurbish my landrover at beltring-person who does their half in the quickest time gets the prize :-D (of nothing).

(and I know it's a boring vehicle-but I've not got the storage room to ferret anything else away) :yawn2:

  2. Might as well start with a guess

    1. What are these regulations about?

    Public order?

    2. Where did they apply?

    South africa?

    3. When did they apply?

Boer war? (the mention of Machine gun's, transportationand whipping sugest around that period to me)

  3. Do you know if it's a case that nobody actually bid on them, or that the bids were less than the scrap value? If somebody had the storage space, they could make a fortune buying them for £1 and then, at least sell the parts :dunno:

(and once they were stripped bare, the main scrap value would be still be there-I presume it's not worth the bother for Withams to do it themselves)

  4. Your right about the wiper switch. In case you haven't worked it out, you need to push in the little metal piece you should see through the hole in the wash button. They are sprung, but seem to rust up. I've not long done one, I used a bit of WD40 overnight, then used a punch to knock the sprung bit loose. (but don't do as I do, and slip and break the thing-lucky it was only my spare).

  5. The copy of the manual I have is dated 1965,but I get the feeling that they would have been in use up to at least 1976(when larkspur was phased out) with the same configuration. I'm not even sure if the spaces in the trailer are for the instrument on it's own, or in a transit case. (The manual is available for EMLRA members via the forum members section).

    Cheers.

    Matt

  6. Hello

I'm trying to get some information on the equipment used in these trailers.

Specifically, which makes and models of the following were used:-

    1:Valve tester

    2:signal generator

    3:Absorption wattmeter

    4:Watt meter

    5:Valve voltmeter

They all get a mention in the manual for the trailer, but there are no specifics

It's probably not something many people will know, but I'm trying a bunch of forum's to try and get the answers.

    Cheers

    Matt

  7. I agree(more health and safety panic) :police:

-and for the record, some deact bren's still have the extractor parts in, and most of the firing pin! (the firing pin just gets cut off when the bolt face is ground off to 45 degrees)

It makes little difference either way, as they can't do anything, and if you can see them, you can also see the mechanism is cut!
