  1. I'd also love to try climbing one!

But we need to take into consideration that the really scarey bit would be sitting at the top of the not yet completed mast as a helicopter dangled the (probably extremely heavy and unstable) next section in the down draught as they had to try and maneuver it and get the bolts in without being knocked off!:wow: Or even worse, climbing a damaged mast to repair it after high winds, lightning or whatever other phenomenon could easily damage it.

  2. Other moment that made me smile was the look on the guy's face who was sat, casually, on the low wall and watched me with curiosity as I walked up carrying a rather strange looking container.

He gave me a puzzled looked, to which I replied 'Elson'. It took him a secon or two to realise to what I was referring and then leapt up as I emptied the chemical toilet right next to where he had been sat!

An odd location for the Elson point, I thought! (For those of you familiar with it!)

A few years ago, before they built the more substantial surround around it. I had to stop a couple of lads using it to wash in (well there was a cue for the showers. (I know a lot of people like to get s**t faced at beltring, but that's going a bit far:wow:) )

  3. We pay at W&P for our vehicles (unless you have 2 years membership in IMPS - then it's no charge) and for that we get access to the arena where we can put them through their paces in a controlled, safe (well - OK - safe as a given value for machines designed for killing people) environment. When not in use we can under certain conditions rumble around visiting friends not seen for ages. That side - to me seems fair.

Provided we then don't get stung for camping fees in the future..

In return for this, as Rambo says, I think we have a right to expect certain basics - like adequate and functional loo's and reasonably priced catering outlets.

Myself - I'd also like to see an on-site POL point from one of the fuel companies selling it's products at a reduced price - if the Army and RAF can refuel vehicles in the field from tankers I'm damned sure the likes of BP, Esso, Shell etc, could do it too. If they could knock 20 or 30p off the price of a litre it wouldn't be too bad a thing to have there esp. for those exhibiting heavy armour and vehicles.

I wonder how many of us would turn up with a stack of jerry cans (or even a bowser) if they could do that.:yay:

  4. The frame (if it is the same as mine-there should be a brass plate on the hitch end with a designation on it) has a large storage box for test kit bolted in the middle and a space at one end for 2 batteries, and a charging set at the other. I don't suppose your's has the bracket for the battery charger bolted to the inside? There is a manual on the EMLRA site if you are a member, but it isn't clear about the battery charger shelf! (I would love to get the charger, but they are very hard to find:argh:).
