I have a new one in its cardboard box that I bought a few years ago for my Jeep , it has been tried, I would sell it but I am not sure of its worth.

Ok thank s very much....when you decide let me know what you would want with the post.I'm mainland Uk.

    Barry.

  2. Wondered if anyone had experience of Hotchkiss 24 volt not charging.Tried everything ....brushes all good and free....but still no luck.I have a feeling it may be regulator but not sure.In 15 years of owning it I've not known of a fuse related to charging ??

Would appreciate anything that may be useful. Thanks in advance.

  3. Rifle bolt wanted for Steyr Mannlicher 1886 rifle please,or anything that I could adapt for show.If you have anything damaged or lying around in any condition,I would be very grateful.

Would consider anything that you may have lying around, spare or damaged.

  5. It is immaterial whether it's 6, 12 or 24v. Condenser is usually rated at 500v to absorb the back EMF as the points open & magnetic field collapses. It matters not what voltage the primary winding is designed to work off. The spark at the points is this back EMF. If they fail so rapidly are you certain that they are proper distributor condensers? BTW am at GDSF, 3G clogged up in day. Took 1.25 hours to respond to a PM earlier!

Hi Clive...should I fit any specific condenser on my Hotchkiss 24 volt please....can't seem to get her running right. Many thanks.

  6. For my MJ,I bought a digital temp gauge off e bay for £3.99 (actually an aquarium temp gauge) it goes up to 120 deg C

Drilled a tiny hole in a hose and pushed the probe in.It was Araldite'd and left in....was absolutely brill. I always had piece of mind on the temp.

  7. Can't seem to get to the bottom of poor running problem on my Hotchkiss.Un earthed her after a few years in the shed and decided to get the poor running problem sorted.

Changed points, condenser, coil, fuel lift pump.....still won't rev smoothly...like as if it's running too lean. Will try and get her timed ,although no difference when I move the dissy about.

Just hoping someone can hit on something I've missed maybe?....fuel is fresh and carb bowl full to right level.

It's the Solex carb with the waterproof distributor.Have got good spark at plugs....gapped points and plugs 30 thou and tried them at 20.

Thanks in advance for any help

  8. Best to ID the dizzy , there are alternatives , IIRC the screened / waterproofed was ' all centifugal advance ' , a PO could have fitted a alternative with vacuum and rigged up a vacuum pipe - then part stripped to disconnect ,if it performed better on just the centrifugal advance ,,

Yes thanks Rusky.....realised no vacuum advance.

  9. Please can anyone help me with the vacuum advance on Hotchkiss distributor....have removed plate inside and the vac pipe just ends as a hole inside,so when you suck on pipe there is no connection to mechanism.

Many thanks in advance for any help.

  10. Hi,can anyone tell me if the landrover screened leads will fit/or can be made to fit the Hotchkiss.

Or anyone know someone who has a set cos it's the only thing i have not changed !! and she still not running right.

Thanks to everyone who has tried to help with this.

    Barry
