  1. I completely agree with everones coments. We stay in the Americas field, not far from where they had their area. We have really enjoyed their shows and music, and have found it much less intrusive than Gingers bar, or Ginger himself who really makes a racket some nights well into the early hours.

Its a real shame that something has become so popular that it has had so many restrictions and extra expence placed on them, so much that it has become unviable. The USO was a bonus and the War and Peace show will be miss them. They were just toooo popular

  2. Today we've been working on our Foden, starting to prep it for an MOT.

I was using a steam cleaner, and cleaning the chassis rail, front near side and under a couple of layers of paint I revield the data plate. It is rivited to the chassis by a rivit in each corner. Ours was 54 AD 05, which was made in 1980.

The layer of paint over the plate was a desert stone colour, now wondering if it went to the gulf war? Still we can now trace some of the history.

    Really pleased to find it.

  3. I used the Frost product last year. We thought our tank was rusting inside so we got some 3 tins, then attacked it over a weekend. Once we got the tank off we found only minimal surface rust, not bad at all, but we did get a lump of plastic out of the tank, which must have been causing our fuel problems. Anyway we still use the stuff and the tank looked like new afterwards on the inside. In fact I still have 1 can you can buy if you want.

I think it would seal small holes or perforations, but our tank was not that bad.

  4. So from these posts it looks like we could run the foden lmlc with the RR Eagle 220 engine with a greater percentage of biodesiel in the fuel mix, up to a total of 50%.

If we do this we should consider regular filter changes, and towards the end of the season, with the vehicle standing more we should reduce the bio desiel percentage to as little as possible.

  5. Does anyone on here know wether the Rolls Royce Eagle engines are able to run on bio diesel? I know nothing about Bio Diesel and haven't got a clue.

I believe that diesel contains a percentage of bio in now, is or would it be possible to mix in a greater percenrage?

  6. Hi Durak,

    Welcome to the forum.

The price does seem quite excessive. The company you have been looking at are also known as Jacksons. These trucks are quite readily available now, as the MOD are disposing of lots all them over the next few years.

Have you looked on Milweb, especially under Heavy vehicles. David Crouch is advertising on there, he is a really nice guy who is very helpfull. He has trucks, and the bodies. I'm not sure that he resprays them though. He has a haulage breakdown company and deals in trucks.

  7. So I have been watching a series called Jericho (very good). There was is an M1 Abrams in one episode, but it didn't look right and it sounded familiar.

You said it sounded familiar--youd definately know it was a cheiftain from the sound!

  8. Thesen were disposed off about 9 years ago

We welded a piece of angle under the front skid to give the steering grip. They are very fast, over the ground we were using you could only use at half throttle, even then you had to hang on for dear life!

  9. Hi Paul,

Your truck is simular to ours. I dont drive it as I have no HGV, but thr two guys that do have both stated there is a knack to the gear changes. As has been said in 1 of the other threads there is a brake on the clutch, so you only need to press it down a fraction of the way for normal gear changes.

Ours was definately a tanker, and was changes over by a member on here, I belive from what we have found out that all the electrics go through breakers, and everything is wired positive and negative, not a negative earth.

If you find a data plate let me know where it is as I would like to find the history of ours, but we havent found a data plate with the military reg number yet.
